Too Human: first details News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

24 May, 2005

Following news that Silicon Knights (the developer behind Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes) has signed up to develop Too Human exclusively for the Xbox 360, the first details of the game have emerged.

According to US magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly, the game puts you in the role of a god named Balder. We're promised sweeping, epic battles, oceans of organised enemies and an online two-player co-op mode.

Silicon Knights boldly describes Too Human as the Xbox 360's God of War, adding that it's only the first part of a planned trilogy.

Too Human will immerse players in battles between cybernetic gods, machine giants, and mortal men on a scale never before seen," says producer Denis Dyack. Blimey.

Too Human is slated for an autumn 2006 release. Silicon Knights has also signed a publishing deal with SEGA, but there's no word yet on other forthcoming games. We'll bring you more news as soon as we get it.

Silicon Knights doing an XBox360 game and Factor5 working on PS3.. what devs aside from their own teams have Nintendo got left for exclusives?

I hate it when developers refer to their own game in terms of someone else's product.

But apart from that, the game sounds exciting, and the developer has a good track record, so I'll look out for more news of this title when they have something more than an analogy to show us.

Too Human was originally announced as a PS1 project...then a GC one, and now a 360 one. They really need to stop generation-hopping with this one and actually get it out.

Is this actually the same game that was touted on the other systems, I thought it was going to be a Deus Ex type affair.

I thinks its been an idea, rather than a game as such for a number of years. Now that the consoles are 'more powerful than anything you have ever seen ever before...ever', it is possible to realise the vision. Lets just hope they live up to their reputation.

I only know them of Eternal Darkness and I think that looked really bad. Maybe it was a great game, but I couldn' t get past the poor graphics. Shouldn't have played Resident Evil first probably...

But it's still a shame that Nintendo is becoming more notorious for scaring off 2nd party developers than for developing good games... :-(

That's what Lisa Marie Presley said to Jacko on their honeymoon.

> a god named Balder

Wasn't there one of those in Valhalla on the Spectrum? Ah, Valhalla. *reminisces*

Presumably it's some kind of Norse mythology thing, then. With added cyborgs. I just hope this doesn't start another round of Denis Dyack outbursts - he's almost as annoying as Molyneux when he gets started.

It sounds like Silicon Knights have decided to abandon the concepts and huge epic storytelling they had in mind for the original PSX/GC versions of the game and just cash in on an action game instead that would sell to the average chav.

STARTED to develop Too Human? Didn't they start to develop this years and years ago?

Oh, actually that sounds NOTHING like the original concept unfortunately.

Hehe...promising choice of a god, since Balder was almost completely invincible. "Almost", since he was killed by a mistletoe...propably a bit disappointing for him after breaking axes over his head like twigs.
