Second Lost Planet demo map

If you pre-order, that is.

Downloaded the Lost Planet demo yet? Along with the single-player demo from May, it should give you a pretty firm idea of whether you're going to buy it when it comes out on 12th January.

If the answer's in the affirmative, Capcom suggests pre-ordering from Game, GameStation, HMV, Virgin or GameStop, because if you do you'll also get a special "token card" which unlocks a second multiplayer map called "Dilapidation" to go along with the "Pirate Fortress" level in the basic demo.

And yes, that means that a one-level demo effectively becomes a two-level one, albeit for a small pre-order fee. Up to you really. If it helps make your mind up, why not read our recent first impressions?

  • Vroom #5 5 years ago

I got it too last night. Maybe thats why it was so DAMN slow :o)

I'll be picking this up anyway. Looks great.

so the extra level is in the full game but you get to play it early in the demo, if you are prepared to pay 40-45 quid for the game instead of getting it for 30-35 online?

nuts to that. I quite want this game.. but am not fussed about having an extra level in the demo - which admittedly i thought was really good. will try the MP one later.

Amusing. I too got the 2 level one, unless it's regional and we get the second free anyway.

the second level isnt that great anyway, more mechs on the standard map :p

If you get the Special Edition you get an extra map in the game proper. Along with this little lot:

    * Lost Planet Collector's Edition offers fans a flurry of extra content:
    * One exclusive bonus multiplayer map that will only be available in the Collectors Edition until summer 2007
    * Custom designed exclusive cover art, for collector's edition only
    * Premium packaging in a sleek SteelBook metal case
    * Exclusive art book with concept sketches from all stages of development including character renders, VS renders and enemy art
    * Soundtrack of select songs from the game
    * Fan kit assets for gamers to create their own Lost Planet websites
    * Action packed videos and trailers
    * Wallpapers, AIM icons, board icons and signature banners
    * Digital art files including screens, character art and environment shots

Sadly I've only seen it at play.com, which I don't usually order from, need to wait and see if it turns up on gameplay.co.uk

eurgh? I got the 2 map one last night so WTF PWNED.
  • bloodflowers #11 5 years ago

Usually I think special editions are a rip, and that extra map will be basically useless until 2007 (unless it's already on all the discs you DIRTY RAT BASTARDS - likely). However, I like all the art and stuff they plan to give away, might be fun to tinker around with. What's the price differential?

    Fiver more for the L.E.

At least on play thats what it is.

"First of all - looks like someone's trying to generate a bit of interest for their game amid a LOT of distractions (gears of warrrrrrr?). Smacks of desperation, that tactic. "

Well I for one had a flyer in my Gears Of War game case advertising this game, I don't know about desperation.. make no mistake Lost Planet is almost as big a title in Microsofts future as Gears Of War was (just had a lot less hype).

And as it has had a single player demo available for ages I think they deserve to release a multiplayer one now while everyone is ONLINE playing stuff, makes perfect business sense for Capcom and MS. Give them a break, Capcom make great games and to support the 360 while a lot of other Jap co's won't touch them shouldn't be underestimated.

Oh and I should point out the Multiplayer was a lot of fun, the single player pretty impressive so all being well it's going to be as essential for me as Dead Rising and Gears of war were.

I seem to have Dilapidation already, which no such shenanigans.

Considering the small size of the multiplayer demo, it had very decent graphics and wasn't bad to play. I was a little disappointed to notice v-sync tearing right from the start of the demo though, particularly given how long this game has been in development. Sadly it looks like gorgeous graphics and v-sync issues come hand-in-hand on the Xbox 360... :(
  • miiiguel #16 5 years ago

Darren: not allways, I don't see any v-sync issues in THE game.

Of course we are trying to generate attention for our game. Nobody releases a demo to try and distract attention ffrom their game, that would be crazy.
Now I'm going to try and generate attention for our forum too, by telling you that if you go to forum.capcom-europe.c om you could win a free scratchcard with a code to download the extra map.

This game is actually a pretty good romp online. I'm not easily pleased, Lost Planet is certainly very different from the other online shooters out there, the controls are more sluggish and you you have to get used to them.

But the weapons, gameplay and mechs are super fun to use.
