Lost Planet MP demo live

Available now to Gold people.

The promised multiplayer demo of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition has popped up on Xbox Live Marketplace.

That is, providing you've got an Xbox Live Gold subscription - those of you with Silver access will have to wait until 30th November to get your grubby little mittens on it.

Amazingly, it's just 173MB, and offers four gameplay modes (Elimination, Team Elimination, Post Grab and Fugitive) with support for 16 players on the "Pirate Fortress" map.

The full game's due out on 12th January, and you can read more about the single-player side of it by examining our recent hands-on preview based on the first five levels.

If this turns out as good as I'm hoping it will, then along with GoW this is going to be a great Christmas/New Year season for the 360.

    P.S. First!

Great news...wish I could play it though, but there doesn't seem to be anyone playing it! Must be crap then!

If this is multiplayer only demo, surely there is no point offering the download to silver owners at all? Or is there split screen/system link in the demo?

Did they remove the other map from the version that appeared last night? It was a better map, IMO.

No, I think everyone is just playing Gears online instead. :)

I am going to give this demo a good look later, I loved the singleplayer demo (one of the few demos I've kept on my drive).

It's pretty good with 4 to 6 players, any more than that and you're constantly getting shot in the back, often thanks to the respawning system being unaware of alive players in the immediate area. Sometimes it'll even respawn two people right next to each other.

Team Elimination is where its at. Its alot more fun.

Yeah, the respawn points are a pain. And I can't get used to the horrible sluggish aiming. The VS mechs are a poisoned chalice as well. Every time I get in one, I unload explosives into someone with apparently no effect, while making myself a magnet for every grenade and rocket in the immediate vicinity.

There's a lot of ghosting as well. Several times I've seen characters vanish into thin air (while that player is still in the game) and I've had a few victims continue to run around after they've been declared dead.

The single player demos still make me think this could be a fun blast, but I doubt I'll give the multiplayer much time if this is any indication.

    And another thing...

Having to hold down the analogue sticks to crouch or sprint is still a punch in the tits.

True, everyone is probably playing that. I must be the only one having troubles with this. There are people online now, but it won't let me play. Every game I've tried to join says its cancelled.

Yeah, those of you with Silver access will have to wait a whole week to download it and then not play it, I feel terrible for you guys! ;)

its lies anyway - i have a silver account and i downloaded it fine last night. I can't play it though! :)

Ok I played it online for a bit and It was a pleasent suprise. COnfusing as hell at first (after days of playing Gears Of War) and the switchable 3rd/1st person view is a bit cludgy however I think the graphics are very good in their style, they have a great atmosphere (as Capcom games usually have).

I was probably picking it up based on the single player demo anyway but this also looks interesting, just going to take some time getting used to it. Gameplay is a bit UT2k4 onslaughty too.

And a world without Capcom games would be a world of shite. Dead Rising and Lost Planet... RE5 to come... excellent! :)
