Mortal Kombat on Live Arcade
Released early, by the look of it.
Midway's Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has shown up on Xbox Live Arcade over the weekend, giving you the chance to hook up with your friends and then rip their spinal chords out for kicks (or spasms).
Featuring 22 fighters, the usual array of leaderboards and achievements, and a new Challenger Versus Mode, which allows you and three friends to play a "winner-stays-on" style tournament, UMK3 costs 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30).
Obviously there's a trial version available too, as with all Live Arcade games, and we'll be bringing you a review just as soon as we can prise out beat-'em-up loving correspondents away from Tekken: Dark Resurrection for long enough.

As an old gamer, and as much as I used to moan about the state of games these days - this really puts things in perspective. I'll take Dead Rising and RR6 (yes, even the flawed but brilliantly fun RR6) over this. Certainly not worth any money except to hardcore fans of MK who must own it.

I wish Microsoft would add a Scanlines option for us HD LCD TV users though to simulate how the games used to look as it tends to make them look better as I've found out with PC emulators.
