DS price cut on the way

And so is Nintendogs bundle.

Nintendo has announced plans to celebrate the launch of Nintendogs by knocking a tenner off the price of the Nintendo DS.

From October 7, the handheld will retail for £89. For £99, you'll be able to buy a Nintendogs bundle - either the new pink DS with Nintendogs Dachsund, or the blue one with Nintendogs Labrador.

Nintendo will no doubt be hoping that the European release of their puppy sim will give the DS a boost in the war against the PSP, as it's already done in Japan and the US. More than 250,000 copies of the game were sold in the States in the first week after launch, and when we were out there recently we couldn't find a copy for love nor $29.99.

Want to know what all the fuss is about? Why not take a look at our preview then, or read our exclusive interview with Nintendogs creator Hideki Konno.

10% price reduction is a decent size'd amount
  • brainbird #3 6 years ago

Better make an Advance Wars Bundle.
  • Shinzou #4 6 years ago

Advance wars with a Black or White DS would be good. None of this pink nonsense.
  • kangarootoo #5 6 years ago

A friend of mine bought a DS off Ebay with about 6 games for ~£140 (plus case and bigger stylus). So there are bargains to be had if you hunt about.
  • towser #6 6 years ago

Mrs Towser would like the pink DS with the Labrador version. Shame its the other way round. Oh well.

So Nintendo is cutting the DS price in US and Europe. And they are keeping the number of system sales in the US a secret for two month now. Previous numbers indicated that the PSP was just about to take over the lead there, constantly catching up the head start (4 month, about a million units). On the other hand the japanese numbers are well spread and in public perception representive of the global situation.

I am not saying the ds is dying, not by far. But the amount of unfounded anti-PSP-propaganda is unbearable.

"But the amount of unfounded anti-PSP-propaganda is unbearable."

Is this another one of those posts suggesting that EG are being bias? Wasn't it anti M$ yesterday, and now anti Sony today? Man, this conspiracy business is a fast moving train.

less of the fecking gay colours.
i just want a black one!!!!!
  • Psi #10 6 years ago

you know there's gonna be an SP version soon, if they restyled the console im sure they'd sell more.

Uh-huh, I couldn't agree more, could you imagine if - as a man - you were caught holding a pink DS? You could kiss any masculine credibility goodbye.

AND they're selling pink shits etc for men these days in many a high street retailer.

    BAN THIS SICK FILTH
  • Dizzy #12 6 years ago

    Ha yes.... my Xmas gift
  • mattius30 #13 6 years ago

I loved my DS when I bought it at launch - never off it. Right up until I bought a PSP and I'm ashamed to say, I found it very difficult to go back to the tiny screens, inferior graphics and even the touch-screen just felt gimmickey... Mine went to 'trade-in heaven' and was ressurected as a 1Gb memory stick duo. I really want a DS again but none of the games appeal...not even Nintendogs! Tell me, is there something wrong with me? Am I mentally ill?
  • Hog-lumps #14 6 years ago

Tell me, is there something wrong with me

If Advance Wars DS doen't float your boat, then yes most probably!
  • kangarootoo #15 6 years ago

"AND they're selling pink shits etc for men these days in many a high street retailer. "

    Err, you mean shirts right?

Anyhow, to quote shakespere (badly) the lady doth protest too much.
  • Kay #16 6 years ago

They may be shirts, kangataroo, but they're still shit :)

Anyway - you do get the impression that a restyled DS isn't far off, and indeed it would be most welcome. I won't be surprised if something is mentioned/ unveiled by next summer.
  • WhiteSaturn #17 6 years ago

METEOS. That alone is worth getting a DS for. Go buy it now. All of you.
  • Planet #18 6 years ago

@kangarootoo: i wasn't talking about EG, just the babbling in forums and commentary threads around the net, including here.

    "Hmm if it was £50 - £60 I'd be tempted... "

??!?!? And if the xbox 360 was a tenner i'd be tempted by that too.

What a strange thing to say? 100 quid for a cracking handheld plus a game brand new is a bit of a bargain if you ask me.

  • #22 6 years ago

    It most certainly is Smelly.
  • peterfll #23 6 years ago

Did I say Shits? Must have been a freudian slip.

I wouldn't want a black one either, in case anyone mistook my racial heritage.
  • SlackMaster #24 6 years ago

If I didn't have a DS with Nintendogs I'd probably get one at that price... I know a few people who have been waiting for just such a bundle ans will snap it up.
  • Stickman #25 6 years ago

Why the hell anyone would want to own Nintendogs is beyond me. What a pain in the arse, no fun wankfest that sounds.
  • Daryoon #26 6 years ago

I know plenty of people who would like it - my mum and nan included o_O
  • Psi #27 6 years ago

hey i'd totally have a pink DS! in fact i think thats the one im gonna buy!
  • myiagros #28 6 years ago

still don't want one, even if it is cheaper, comes in pink and i can fiddle with dogs.
  • twinbee #29 6 years ago

Shame the dogs aren't bundled the other way round as I'd love to get a pink DS. Even though I shouldn't even think about buying another DS.

  • smelly #32 6 years ago

Well, being a gay man.. yes i can imagine myself having a pink ds.
  • smelly #33 6 years ago

"And you can get a DS and a game for £110, bargain! "

Eh? DS and a game (nintendogs) is 99 quid?
  • lucky_jim #34 6 years ago

I want a limited edition fake burberry check DS, with a new "Staff Terrier" version of Nintendogs. Alongside the Staffordshire bull terrier, it could include a pit bull, rottweiler and a minigame that lets you set your unmuzzled hellhound on the neighbour's toddler.

It's only a matter of time, you know! A pint to the first person to photoshop a limited chav edition DS/ Nintendogs combo...
  • smelly #35 6 years ago

"I was starting to hate my DS, I've only ever bought two games for it"

Yeah.. hating a games console after playing 2 games you didnt like is such a well thought out idea ..

  • smelly #36 6 years ago

wink.. you sir are a twat.

I dont love nintendo.. I like their games, and their love of innovation.. but that's about it. If like sega the went multiplatform, i wouldnt be at all arsed.

I presume you're a sad fanboy who only cares about "how cool" a machine is percieved to be, as opposed to how fun/good the games are on it? If so, I feel sorry for you, you're missing out on good games. And I'd recommend you feck off and get a life/girlfriend/etc before insulting people randomly?

Fecking narrow minded child? Let me guess, you're about 12? And that's why you go on about nintendo games being "too kiddy", and so only play games with lots of blood and violence in (regardless of how good they are?)? Very grown up of you. That said, if you are a grown up, I feel VERY sorry for you. Let me guess, no friends yeah? Let me guess, you own "singles" dont you? And jack off over it at every given opportunity?

"I've actually played nearly every DS game out at the moment in the UK due to my work, but only I've only bought two which were both dissapointing, "

confused by this.. If you have played every DS game out there, why buy ones you didnt like!??!? That makes no sense?

If your job entails playing every game.. surely you should buy the ones you did like? My suggestions would be wario ware, and kirby (although admitidly not out in this country, it's the best game i've played.. ever - and i've been playing games for over 2 decades now).

  • mattius30 #37 6 years ago

Hey Wink, hope you enjoy that snuggly-fitting cork butt-plug :-) Sounds like fun! And oh yeah, less of the bigotry eh? There's a good boy.
  • Rubzo #38 6 years ago

What? I wake up from cryogenics and the idiots haven't died of TB yet?!
  • djchump #39 6 years ago

Wink - you're now on my ignore list because you're a bigotted idiot.
I'm sure you don't care, but I thought I'd let you know.
