Does that mean it's 2D again?

If W3D put you off - try this

Isn't that the same way they market new Tomb Raiders - "If you thought the last one was shit, try the new one - it's a return to form/old-skool/basics/exploration/fighting/jumping (delete where preferable)!"?

... and who do you work for exactly ?

You have a point, I didn't think W3D was any good but still gave it a chance 'cos I wanted it to be good. It was Worms in 3D afterall !
I've been an avid lover of the 2D series since Worms 1 & still play W:A online to this day. I hated W3D for it's clumsiness & awkwardness but appreciate how hard it must have been for Team17 to transfer all elements of the 2D series into 3D. It looked like Worms, but it didn't play like Worms to me.
This Worms 4 Demo plays just how I expect a game of Worms in 3D to be. Flowing, carnage-inducing goodness with a dollop of strategy. I played the Xbox Demo last month & was very impressed with the difference - even had a few 2 player games with the missus - something she'd never do on the PC cos she's such a n00b !
Personally I can't wait to grab it next month on PC-DVD for the attractive price of £19.99 and no, I don't work for Team17 or Codemasters.

Played it. Was disappointed.
Everything seems wishy-washy in the sequel. Weapons pack less of a punch and their splash damage seems negligible. An explosion from a bazooka partially obscured my 1-health target with smoke, only for him to announce "Missed!".
2D Worms was all about landscape altering destruction and worms flying about, either from ninja ropes or by sheer explosive force. Worms 3D proved that sort of thing didn't especially work too well on 3D islands. This demo just proves removing it is kinda bland.
One amusing moment came when one of the Coppers appeared to try sexually molesting my Scot to death for his entire turn - although I might concede this was probably just a pathing bug.
All in all, bring back the good old 2D days.

anyone ever try a demo of something called bridge builder. it was a little puzzle game/prog that i think was 3D but with a forced side-on 2D viewpoint allowing for physic modelling. anyone ? google it if you wanna know what i'm referring to, its gotta be around somewhere.
anyhoo, the aim of it was to build bridges across ravines so that a train could pass safely across. when u actually built part of a bridge, and started the 'attempt', the physics(sp?) would kick in and the bridge would bow and contort with the weight of itself and with a train travelling across it and if built incorrectly it would just collapse.
now ... why didn't team 17 make something along them lines but all wormy, all cartoony, allowing for destruction of scenery and bits toppleing over etc. etc.
tbh, i think it'd be soooo much better than this effort they're trying to make now
