Rev rumour dismissed

The one about the power supply.

Nintendo has dismissed rumours that the stand shown in pictures of the Revolution will double as its power supply, telling Eurogamer that said rumours are, well, rubbish.

The claim first appeared in Nintendo Official Magazine - but according to a Nintendo spokesperson, "It was a small production error in the magazine."

"We have not announced any details of the Nintendo power supply at this time," the spokesperson added.

The stand shown in the pics is just a stand, it seems - which makes sense, since we know you'll be able to position the Revolution either horizontally or vertically. As for the power supply, guess we'll just have to wait till E3 for more info...

Powered by heat from the X360...now there's an idea! :o)
  • neilka #4 6 years ago

If this is Nintendo Europe denying it then it's almost certain to be true, it's just that nobody's told them yet.
  • AtomicBanana #5 6 years ago

'Not too fussed about power supplies, not unless they over heat or catch fire. The X360 springs to mind'

Yawn. They don't do either if you follow simple instructions for it's placement.
  • InfiniteFury #6 6 years ago

Also, remember not to stick your fingers in the toaster.

"Yawn. They don't do either if you follow simple instructions for it's placement."

    LOL

But really, who really cares aboute the power pack for the REV or PS3, as long as it works, its just a powerpack...
  • Fozzie_bear #8 6 years ago

Perhaps they'll just re-hash an old power supply and just claim that it's paying homage to the company's past :)

Remember the last time Nintendo Europe denied something? It came true the NEXT DAY! So come back tomorrow to find out... :)

I like how on the front cover of the current issue of NOM it proudly proclaims to have the "World's first hands-on session with the Revolution controller!" even though many magazines like Edge and Famitsu had done so last year at the Tokyo Game Show.
  • mr_steve100 #11 6 years ago

Knowing Ninty, they;'ll power it in some innovative new way.
  • drumbaby #12 6 years ago

It'll have twin power supplies that you turn on with a little rubber barge pole.
  • ElephantMonkey #13 6 years ago

Since the Rev won't be really that powerfull as the other next-gen consoles I'm guessing it will probably run with the same photocell power that calculators have been using for some time now.

    /runs away

    >its powered by Love.
Balls, it'll be powered by nintendo's hatred for us!

With every revolution you buy you'll only swell the coffers of Lo Pan.
  • smelly #15 6 years ago

Is this degnerating into "my power supply is bigger than yours" thread?

Still, Im shocked to see 360 owners posting stuff like that. Have they not got anything better to do? Like play decent games? Oh.. erm.. oh yeah..

.. Lights fuse.. stands well back.

It will run on the hot air produced by a PS3.
  • Razz #17 6 years ago

I'm guessing it'll use the same power supply configuration as the GCN.
  • The-Bodybuilder #18 6 years ago

It will have a gimmicky touchscreen.
  • Mr_Sleep #19 6 years ago

"We have not announced any details of the Nintendo power supply at this time,"

Or very much of anything else for that matter.
  • yagisencho #20 6 years ago

People are waiting breathlessly on details of the Revolution's power supply unit? Seriously?
  • crashVoodoo #21 6 years ago

what the fuck you people do with your x360 power supply's ?

my 360 can be on for hours on end and the brick hardly gets warm .. its even under a radiator FFS!
  • gingerlink #22 6 years ago

shouldn't all rumours and pretty much anything about the revolution be discounted until e3 now, i mean nintnedo have said that's when more info'll be released and they're just dismissing and denying any other rumours....
  • Psi #23 6 years ago

I am totally not buying the revolution when it comes out as after 6 months they'll release a new revolution with a revised and better looking powersupply!

those bastards boil my piss they do
  • Dirtie #24 6 years ago

Would would they release a new one? The thing is good-looking enough already.
  • admir #25 6 years ago

i hate nitendo, they show no support for the gamecube, its all about the Rev. & the stupid DS, which by the way they support it more then the GC. they make one and the same games Mario and Zelda.
if you think about buying a gamecube dont, you will regret it. believe me its not worth it. PSP has more and better games then the gamecube.
  • 3william56 #26 6 years ago

    @crashvoodoo

Can't be much of a radiator, can it?
But then, I suppose who needs a central heating system with a 360 throbbing away.
  • Xerx3s #27 6 years ago

I dunno where you ppl stick yer powersupplies, but mine is hidden away behind me telly and its always normal temp. And i use me xb2 for 10h+ gaming sessions every now and then. :\
  • smelly #28 6 years ago

    @admir

LOL!! Oh wait, you're being serious?? Eeek!
  • smelly #29 6 years ago

    @Psi

So what if they do? If you liked the first one enough to buy one, why would you care if a nicer looking one (to entice more people to buy one, and thus more games to arrive) came out a bit later on? Regardless of which, if it's like the DS it'll be PURELY cosmetic.

Would you rather they bought out newer versions of the hardware (say for example with a harddisk, or Blue Ray Disc Drive), and then only have games whch support them, forcing you to buy new hardware? Erm.. Hang on.. Where have I seen that before?
  • Kafeen #30 6 years ago

"Yawn. They don't do either if you follow simple instructions for it's placement."
Like string it up from the ceiling or place it ballenced on a cardboard box.
  • MoFo #31 6 years ago

"my 360 can be on for hours on end and the brick hardly gets warm .. its even under a radiator FFS! "

Well turning it on is one thing. You have to play games on it for the thing to really heat up and seeing how there aren't any games worth playing I can't imagine that happening.
  • gingerlink #32 6 years ago

Has there been a redesign of the gamecube? no!

Following along those lines, there probabbly won't be a redesign of the revolution as there's really no point considering it being a home console.

Did anyone complain about the ps2 redesign? no...
  • BartonFink #33 6 years ago

Hmmm I thought the Cube redesign was Revolution? ;)
  • Psi #34 6 years ago

smelly im sorry but im one of the people that will insist on waiting 12 months until they bring out the revised powersupply that's 5 milimeters smaller in width depth and height a different colour and slight ipod styling.

I will forgo those 12 months of great games! style is everything!

im not falling for that redesign thing again ninty!
  • Virgil #35 6 years ago

I feel sorry for nintendo, what with so many people slandering it's not as good as it used to be name the last thing they need is for their own magazines to be publishing lies

No not lies what do you call em? half truths.
