Forza 2 slip confirmed

Won't be around 'til 2007.

Microsoft's Tokyo Game Show demonstration of Forza Motorsport 2 has quietly confirmed speculation that the game won't be out until the first quarter of 2007.

Producers in Japan are reportedly saying the code's about 60 percent finished.

That's a bit of a shame then, and probably won't do sales of the Wireless Racing Wheel, due out this Christmas, any favours.

Then again the first Forza, on Xbox 1, was a bit special, despite people predicting its catastrophic failure pre-release, so it's fair to say that the chaps at Turn 10 deserve the benefit of the doubt.

shame - was looking forward to this at christmas but rather have it right than sooner.
and anyway it'll be out before the yawnfest no AI of GT is for PS3.

I always knew it'd slip... the lack of screenshots and gameplay videos so close to its original November release date kind of made it obvious really. Still, I'd rather wait and have a great game then have it rushed out and not so great just to make the Christmas market.
  • morriss #4 5 years ago

Oh well. Too many games out between now and CHristmas anyway. :)
  • Steroyd #5 5 years ago

is shocked it took so long to announce it.

take as long as you like, dudes
  • Khanivor #7 5 years ago

    Still, better then 2008.
  • richardiox #8 5 years ago

    Only 60% complete?!

It was never gonna make it for November. That's like Sony last December still maintaining the PS3 was coming out globally in Spring this year!
  • alpha-0ne #9 5 years ago

Not to fussed there are already too many coming out towards the end of this year including Gears of War, Crackdown, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, PES6, Call of Duty 3 amoung others..

Q1 should be pretty good though with lost planet, blue dragon, forza 2, masss effect, assasins creed all due

guess we should be thankful that they arent going to release it half finished and make you pay for the rest of it one car and track at a time!...ahem cough*GTHD*cough
  • The-Bodybuilder #11 5 years ago

They should just release the game and make us pay to download the cars, tracks and anything else important to the game.

Edit: Blasted santino beat me to it.

Yep, this is no surprise. Just glad they are going to ship it when its ready.

Plenty of other stuff to keep me amused until Forza arrives.
  • captainrentboy #13 5 years ago

Like alpha-one said there's faaar too much coming out on the 360 over the chrimbo months anyway,so i'm pretty sure they'll all tide me over until Forza's released.
  • numptyboymatt #14 5 years ago

Release it when its FINISHED? Whats that all about? What happened to the "buy now, patch later" approach????
  • king_skins #15 5 years ago

Producers in Japan are reportedly saying the code's about 60 percent finished.

The demo version they where showing was 60% complete. It doesn't mean the game is 60% complete, the demo version is probably an old stable version.

    This is brilliant news, really.

Some good ol' fashioned TLC can do wonders. And Forza slashes on Granturiswhat from MASSIVE HEIGHTS. Etc.
  • sharpfish #17 5 years ago

    Quality takes time.

And plenty other XB360 games to be enjoying until then!

"Rumour has it they won't be going the GTHD way of charging for cars and tracks. Nope, with Forza it'll be 75 gamerpoints a litre for the petrol to fill your cars tank up."

Meh, we're used to being boned up the backside by UK petrolium companies anyway.
  • SCiARA #19 5 years ago

wasn’t this confirmed a while ago on the official site?

I just love it when big faceless corporations (MS, Sony, Shell, Texaco) abuse me and my money.

    And no biofuels for anyone.

    Isn't this old news?

I think I remember Microsoft officially confirming the slip 8th-9th september.

Good news really I guess... looking forward to this one more than any other, so I'd rather they take their time and get it right. As people have said, luckily there is plenty of other titles to hold us over untill it finally arrives.

Wireless racing wheel, ooo lovely (and I'm not really even a driving game person).

Plus the presence of XBLive means support for any driving game whose dev can spare the resources to cut an update \o/
  • ronuds #24 5 years ago

Just means more time to be spent playing Test Drive, which is good because maybe I'll get my money's-worth out of it.

Forza makes GTHD look like Bump-n-Jump.
  • yagisencho #25 5 years ago

Well, that saves me the purchase price of an XBox 360 for a while longer then.
  • bloodflowers #26 5 years ago

Vin: yeah - damn those petroleum companies for charging us that 80% tax. Oh, wait...
  • chronom4n #27 5 years ago

i am truly gobsmacked as to the route that GTHD are taking. this is not what i asked for from Gran Turismo. But it is what i asked for from Microsoft. . From what i am gathering FM2 is looking to be near on perfect. but then again i could be wrong!

GT HD will be shat all over by Forza. I never found GT to be 'realistic.' A you need damage,b, you shouldnt be able to race around walls and c, the escudo shouldnt be able to go 2000kmh =P

Anyways, Forza is shaping up nicely and with the new screens is looking extremely promising (considering anti aliasing isnt on and shadow effect is also off)
  • tiddles #29 5 years ago

All games are "60% complete" until the point at which they are actually released.
  • albundy #30 5 years ago

Indeed. In the Forza-GT arms race, I forsee GT getting thrashed to bits..........
  • yagisencho #31 5 years ago

The problem I have with the GT series (bought GT4) is that it's a *driving* simulator and not a racing game. If I want to drive, I'll hop into my real car and have the actual experience. If I want to race (something I can't do with my real car), I turn to simulators like Forza.
