Origin showcases new Ultima title
Mmm...orpg.
Electronic Arts and its underlings Origin Systems have finally revealed what they've been concocting under the sheets at a press and fan conference in San Franciso yesterday. The big announcement was the long-awaited and - according to just about everybody - much needed new title to advance the Ultima franchise, Ultima X: Odyssey.
According to HomeLan Fed, Origin treated the throng of beardy enthusiasts to the first gameplay and pre-rendered footage of its new MMORPG which is said to be powered by Epic's Unreal engine, giving life to Odyssey's wide range of expansive outdoor settings.
After the main show, HomeLan managed to pull Origin's Andy Hollis aside for a brief chat. He explained that the intention is to create a much different gaming experience to Ultima Online, and this is apparent from the distinctly action-oriented approach in the footage of combat shown at the event. The show is set to continue today, when players will actually be able to get some hands-on time with the game, so you can expect some more details to surface soon.
