More Resi Evil 5 details

Still no word on a Rev version.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 5 is currently in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360, promising that the game will "revolutionise the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism and control." Speaking of revolutions, there's still no word of a version for Nintendo's next-gen console... Hmm.

As previously suggested the game is being produced by Jun Takeuchi of Street Fighter 2 and Onimusha fame, and will star classic Resi hero Chris Redfield.

There's a whole new set of enemies to face off with - and Capcom's keeping schtum about exactly what form they'll take. But we know there'll be bloody hundreds of them, all swarming around you at any given moment, and that they'll speak a strange language. They'll also be more intelligent and expressive than your typical Resi zombie.

You can expect more open-plan environments and an awful lot of harsh sunlight, since heat is a key theme of the gameplay. You might need to hide in a cave to cool down from time to time, for example.

There's no word on a release date, but Takeuchi has confirmed that Resi Evil 5 is Capcom's top priority at the moment so hopefully we won't have to wait too long. More news as we get it.
