That's fairly easy to do since Ubisoft hasn't anounced plans to make another PoP game just yet. The latest trilogy was completed and now the team is working on a new IP for the next gen consoles.
There's nobody to dethorone, they already stepped down and are moving to a new kingdom.

Hmmm. I think Sony would be wiser to delay this a year or two and release GoW 2 on PS3. Come next February the PS2 will be well into it's 'slow death' phase, with fewer & fewer big release titles.

Jaffe originally wanted to have Kratos fly in GoW 1, but they had to cut it because of time constraints (it's in the making of video in the special features). I'd also like to see a few more of the truly epic bosses.

Will pencil this in as one to watch...

    EDIT-

I seriously doubt that's the last we've seen of PoP. According to Ubisoft's chairman (forget his name) The Two Thrones was one of two games which ensured a really successful year for Ubi last year (the other being King Kong). Since when have videogames companies ever given up on successful franchises?!

I was expecting this on PS3. Looks like they're putting in a lot of the features they didn't have time to in the first. Is David Jaffe involved?
  • Triggerhappytel #4 6 years ago

    "Is David Jaffe involved?"

Well, according to an article on him the other day (couldn't find it in the news archive to quote), he said he had not been approached about GoW 2 (actually, he said he might consider saying no if Sony did ask him); which suggests he is not involved yet. But then, it could be a ruse to put people off, or simply that the game isn't in development yet.

I guess we'll have to wait & see.

what like an in game character - doubt it.

I loved GoW but the Greek mythology stuff was hammy. If they'd made up their own names it wouldn't have mattered. The ninnies even put Athens on the coast.

I think there might be a little hint as to when we might see the PS3 here, as in, not till after this. Seems to me that it would be very odd to release this on PS2 if PS3 is planned to be out already.

Or perhaps, just perhaps... Sony aren't planning on dropping the PS2 like a sack of bricks just because the new model is out. Like some other companies we could mention did with their consoles. Hmm? :-)

M$ dropped the Xbox before the bleedin' 360 was even out!! Their last first-party releases (not including Classics or the Halo 2 maps) were out in the first half of last year (I think Conker was the most recent); wholly six months before the 360 was launched.

Talk about hanging Xbox owners out to dry...

I am very much looking forward to this whether it is on the PS2, PS3 or even available on both (which is what i would expect).

The guy from God of war just might be the coolest hero ever, along with the prins.

"Sadly there's no mention of multiplayer - with the game touted as one-player only."

Why is this a bad thing? Cybernet used to do this all the time. "Unfortunately, Final Fantasy is 1 player only, and lacks a multiplayer option blah blah" Does it really matter? Not every game has to be multiplayer, so why does it have to be a bad thing if it's single player only? Most multiplayer modes are absolute shit anyway. Sonic Heroes had a multiplayer mode, does that work to it's advantage? Does it get credit for being multiplayer? No, it's shit. It didn't need multiplayer, and neither does God of War.

because apparently single player is like masturbation, ie. not the real deal ;)

    *is very confused*

Anyway the game was fantastic and will definitely be getting this one.

Sadly there's no mention of multiplayer - with the game touted as one-player only.

No MP? So, what will it be called? God Of War 2 : Masturbation ?

    Sorry, couldn't help it :p

i have played the first up to cliffs of madness at the point where you pull the lever, drag/kick the box into the other room and have to jump on the box to the ledge before the spikes pop up. Can I hell get hold of the ledge. this has stopped me finishing the game but damn it was a very good ride to this point. GoW2 is gonna rock
  • alimokrane #22 6 years ago

Well God of War 2 on PS2 and not PS3 ... I seriously doubt this.
  • Daryoon #23 6 years ago

Eh, why? Plenty of PS1 games were being released even when the PS2 came out.
  • Luigi #24 6 years ago

Great news! I loved the first game... The PS2 still has lots of great games coming in. Driver 4 (errr, better that the last one, please), Outrun 2006, Tomb Raider, Black, Sensible Soccer :), Tourist Trophy and now God of War 2, not to mention the usual new Pro Evo Soccer in October/November. I hate Sony in some aspects (memory cards price tag for instance) but at least, they keep supporting the actual or older console. Congratulations Sony & other publishers. Greetings to Eurogamer(s) from Lisbon. SLB 1 - 0 LIV he he ;)
