PGR3 Xbox 360 bundle
300 quid. From tomorrow.
Microsoft may not be cutting the price of the premium Xbox 360 this Christmas (well, not yet anyway), but those of you holding off buying one might be swayed by a new bundle announced today.
Available from 22nd September, the bundle consists of a premium Xbox 360 console, an extra wireless controller and a copy of Project Gotham Racing 3, and costs GBP 299.99 (around EUR 445).
PGR3 was one of the Xbox 360's launch titles, and remains one of its top-selling, although it doesn't appear to be among the first titles to receive a price cut to Xbox 360 Classic status.
Microsoft also recently cut the price of the Xbox 360 Core System from GBP 209.99 to GBP 199.99.

The cynic in me suggests that it's because it's now included in the bundle and had it been just £25 on the Classics label then the bundle wouldn't have seemed such good value... but then you do get an extra wireless controller so maybe not. The controller alone costs £32.99.
So I guess it's not such a bad deal after all. Phew, eh!

PGR 3 £25 (if it was a classic title)
Controller £32.99
Total £338 = The bundle is still good value...
I cant see the premium dropping by more than £20 this year though if at all, i could maybe see this same bundle but with gears of war at xmas, that would effectively be a £20 price cut

Therefore £300 would still have been dear for me.....but, in fairness, I guess it's a good price point if you say it as £299.99

Still waiting....
I have every current gen console, yet am finding the 360 quite resistable.

Guess what most people dont need wireless and 1/2 at most use xbox live
Id rather MS keep it as addons, give the choice not to have it

Anyway, every newly created Xbox Live Silver account grants you 1 months Gold membership, so you could trial the online MP for free if you want.
Also, not everyone is either setup for, or even wants wireless networking. If wireless was included in the box, then the overall price would have to reflect that, just like in any device that has wireless built-in - like the PS3. At least this way you have choice and you are not having to pay for something you don't want or need.

Why on earth would wireless networking be in the box? Its not the norm for consoles OR game playing households. The vast majority of buyers would be paying for something they wouldn't use.

Wii (& Wii sports) + game + extra controller = £265
Great value for this pack, and makes something of a mockery of Wii's so called accessible pricing.

I actually agree with you. I *personally* would like to give Xbox Live a go, and I'd like to do it via a wireless connection.
So while this bundle is pretty good value imho, It'll still cost me aroud £400 as you rightly pointed out.
I was actually quite tempted till I remembered all that!

It's a shame the game is PGR3 as I'm not overly keen on racers altho MSR was good. Something else and I may have been sold.

I think the bundle is pretty good. PGR3 was definately one of the main reasons I got my 360 last Christmas. Still play it now, thanks to all the car downloads.

i happen to disagree if you look at all other next gen consoles ps3, wii, aswell as handelds psp and DS they all have wifi built in. seems a bit odd to charge £40 quid for this when something similair is in the DS for £100.

PS3 tard pack has no wifi.

I realise that the other consoles have wireless built in (I don't really count the portables, as wireless is kind of a necessity), but I don't believe that the majority of console owners currently need wifi.
If it were included for free (as if anything is really free) then sure that would be nice. But I tend to prefer things as charged options rather than bundles, so I can pick and choose.
I do believe the 360 wireless adapter is overpriced as an option, but that is a seperate issue perhaps.

God I hate that term. Its so bloody superior. Its like being at school again.

As for the wifi debate, actually I would have liked my 360 to have it as standard, it wouldnt have cost THAT much to build it in and the adapter IS overpriced.
My console is in a different room to my router so essentially I do connect to Xbox live wireless by ethernet connecting to my laptop which as a wireless adapter plugged in that works from the router. The Adapter is £20 but it's not as good as just having the MS adapter plugged in the back (not as convienient).

Yet I won't buy a 360 without one.
So, as I said, the wait goes on
(Oh, and I'm not a big racing fan either!)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, MS have got a golden opportunity to be the only readily available next gen console this Xmas, and they're wasting it a bit. They're going to lose money anyway, and always have done in spades, so couldn't they lose a bit more and make sure they'd get ahead in market share? It's not like MS is short of cash...
