3DR outlines Prey achievements

As in, Xbox 360 ones.

We know how you all love achievements and gamerpoints. Well, I know how much Kristan loves them anyway - you can probably infer as much from the way he steals all the Xbox 360 review code. So he at least will be interested to learn that 3D Realms has posted a full list of achievements and points available from the Xbox 360 version of Prey, which is due out next month alongside the PC version.

As you'll know if you've followed our preview coverage of Human Head's forthcoming FPS, Prey features a big old single-player campaign coupled with some interesting multiplayer aspects - and the split of points between the two will be 655 total for single-player and 250 for multiplayer. On top of that, you'll be able to pick up another 95 secret and hard-mode points to bring the total to 1000 from 44 available achievements.

Thanks to 1UP for doing the maths. One of the reasons we didn't fancy counting them up ourselves is that, as 3D Realms puts it, "some things are in this chart that are most definitely spoilers for the full game". In other words, if you don't fancy having the experience spoiled slightly, don't click through to the detailed list. But if you're just in it for the points, you can find a detailed rundown here. Off you go, Kris.

    Points.... must have..... points.

Good to see a proper balance between on and offline points. Sure, have online points, but some people can't play online, some can't be arsed and some buy a game months after it's released when no-one's even PLAYING it online!!! 70-30 ish seems about right.

    Me want points too....must...break...25000....:)

I agree that it's nice to see a game that's Achievements are weighed in favour of the offline single player mode.

The PC and Xbox 360 demos are out tomorrow, I can't wait to play them! /jumps up and down with excitement

Demo is out today/tomorrow I believe on PC and the 360.

Got my preorder in when it was 30 notes at hmv - not expecting too much but should be fun enough.

I just hope that with it being PC/360, the contorls are well-mapped to the thumbstick a-la-Halo. Playing FarCry this weekend reminded me just how much crappy sensitivity on thumbstick can cripple an otherwise decent experience.

Hmm with that many achievements, surely that little pop up will appear every other minute and get REAAAALLY annoying

"Hmm with that many achievements, surely that little pop up will appear every other minute and get REAAAALLY annoying"

Well, it's still more rewarding than the average JRPG levelup.

I thought the guy said: 'Demo next week' on the 19th. :\

Looks like some nicely balanced achievements, there.

Looking forward to trying out the demo

Bonus Achievement - Make sure 3D Realms ships DNF.

Does anyone know if there's going to be a 360 demo, or is it just a PC demo?

There are Prey adverts all over the net with a terrible bit of apostrophe use in ("Alien's have turned your world upside down";). The grammar Nazi in me is tempted to boycott it - luckily the game playing part of me wasn't going to buy it anyway.
  • NthSimulachum #15 6 years ago

Hopefully there'll be a DNF easter egg. A secret room with Duke angrily stamping about shouting "WHEN IT'S DONE!". A room which took 4 and a half years to build.
  • Yossarian #16 6 years ago

    demo is out tomorrow apparently.
  • Bumbuliuz #17 6 years ago

I must say I like the balance of the list. I hate games that force you to play 2 months straight multi for some points. This has helped me make up my mind on getting the 360 version. So long as the demo tonight doesnt suck ;)

That's it, they should have Duke sitting on a toilet somewhere in the game. That and a 'Shoot George Broussard' mini-game.

is it just me or are those achievements really dull? i mean, it's pretty much just points for completing each level, then in MP points for getting lots of kills with various weapons.

Z0MG! Thats why it takes ages to develop DNF! Aliens abducted the duke! You bastards!

    ;)

What's wrong with points for completeing each level? Especially if the game's AI is good and the points reflect the difficulty setting, surely that's the best thing to do! Better than points for level crawling for hidden artifacts, gettin 10000000 head shots, playin online for 8hrs straight (I kid you not - GRAW) or unlocking 15 costumes for each character. Give me achievements that refelct my sense of achievement rather than anal tickboxing anyday!

Here begins the "Common Sense Gamerscore" campaign ;)
  • absolutezero #22 6 years ago

I hope to God they don't leave them in the PC version like Comdemned, I've found a dead bird. What the hell for? Wow I have a dead bird collection for no apparent reason! Thanks Gamerpoints you complete pile of shit.
  • Bezzy #23 6 years ago

No points for playing the single player mode with certain "styles". Shame. There are some for multiplayer though - that's cool.
  • Rambaldi #24 6 years ago

Methinks the PC gamer doth protest too much ;)
  • stoopidgreg #25 6 years ago

i didn't say they shouldn't have points for finishing levels, but that should only be half of it. i thought the idea of the points was to show off how much time you spend on a game specifically trying to get the points, which is fun in itself. there should be imaginitive point-earners like 10 headshots in a row or taking no damage during certain fights.

Completly agree with Rambaldi, points should be mostly for offline, for instance, I can't get my Table Tennis' "Hall of Famer" achievement, 'cos nobody play the damn tournments!!!!
Achievements should be given in order to show other people what we did, 'cos to prove out online capabilities, one just have to... play with another!
