Europe getting PSP Giga Pack

In time for Christmas, naturally.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced plans to launch a limited edition PSP bundle containing a 1GB Memory Stick - and as you might have guessed, it'll be in the shops in time for Christmas.

The PSP Giga Pack will include a USB cable and a new PSP stand for hands-free viewing along with the larger capacity Memory Stick, which offers enough storage for around 30 hours of music, 500 digital photos or two feature films. Just about.

It'll be priced £214.99 in the UK, but if you're planning a trip abroad or are already a foreigner you might want to pick up your pack in continental Europe - where it'll set you back €299.99 (around £203).

Those who've already bought themselves a PSP Value Pack will be able to purchase the PSP-branded 1GB stick separately from the start of November, but a price has yet to be announced.

The PSP Giga Pack will go on sale in the UK and Ireland on November 21. It will launch in other European territories, and in Africa and the Middle East, on November 28.

Probably best to get your order in now if you've got your heart set on one - the PSP looks likely to be a best seller this Christmas, and Santa's elves can only knock 'em out so fast.

That looks like quite a good purchase and means you don't end up with a completely redundant 32MB stick. Shame they didn't do it sooner.

Nice to see us Europeans getting a nicer bundle than the Americans.

/prepares to be corrected by evidence of uber US bundle

The PSP always seem expensive compared to the DS. I have neither so please don't anyone get all fan-boy hate on me. Yes I know its technically stronger, but the price point difference seems quite a lot between two compoeting products.

Awesome, I was thinking about getting a PSP for Christmas so this is just PERFECT. I'm getting this.

I've got a psp, and am still amazed by the lack of decent titles for it (or am I missing something here).

I would recommend waiting for the price drop at the start of next year.

Hmmm. Just how limited is it? I'm planning on getting a X360 for Christmas (don't hit), and getting a PSP as well is kinda out of the question. Seems like a great offer though. Do you think it'll still be available in say, February?
  • JonFE #6 6 years ago

Actually this screams "No... Not the X360... Pick me instead..." so loud that my ears bleed...

Hopefully it will not succeed tho'

"or are already a foreigner" lol.

i just don't get it, it's like a big fat gmaeboy micro with no decent games doesn't fit in your pocket and is far more expensive...

(im playing advance wars 1n2 to death on gba thanks for whoever pimped it on this site the other week)

I wish they'd do a nice stylish case that doesn't slip TIGHTLY round the PSP. Get something sharp on that case and zzzzzp! There's your dreaded scratch.

Something like the Nintendo officially-licensed GBA/DS cases but with the appropriate styling would be perfect.
  • Xerx3s #10 6 years ago

They can make it from silver, its still gonna need good games.

    /pattents the idea.

Big bad, you do realise this and gamesindustry.bix are the same place

Really? I think it's quite neat, actually. It protects the PSP but doesn't take up any more space, and doesn't look too shabby either, at least not compared to the standard DS cases. *shivers*

new PSP stand for hands-free viewing

Oh come on. Sure it's got a big screen but who would want to prop it up and sit back in their armchair to watch a movie?

theys should have a knife fight to decide once and for all!!

Really? Do you know something we don't.

I think we can assume this will be loaded with v2.50 firmware.

Selling it with v2 and a £65 saving (compared to todays value pack and a 1gb vs the giga pack) would just be asking for pirating

Seriously, this is one dirt cheap bundle considering seperately the value pack and 1gb stick cost £280 at retail

stand for handsfree viewing? So it'll be like a tiny, teeny DVD player?

On a train journey or something where you have a little table, using my Playgear Pocket case as a stand has been helpful as holding the PSP for one episode of Family Guy is just about OK but two is pushing it.

This is a smart move by Sony. Ahem. Well - the smartest move they've made since launching on Sept 1st so very, very late.

If they really push this device like they should do : as a portable media device - then they could really start to eat in to the walkman/digital music player market.

I've got a 2Gb stick and use it out every single day playing music and showing of pics at the pub. 1Gb out the box is a great idea. Just hope its marketed properly.
  • tonynibbles #20 6 years ago

Does this come with the uber battery?
  • sephy #21 6 years ago

I expect the "uber" battery will be introduced in the box around new year/spring
  • spidermanalf #22 6 years ago

Bugger I bought one to save and sell on fleabay before Xmas, going to have to stick it on now!
  • Captain-nippon #23 6 years ago

300 bucks for a PSP with 1 GB memory stick? damn that's a good deal. To bad i already have a PSP. If Sony really want to spoil the x360 launch and kill the video ipod this holiday season, drop the damn value package to 199.

Sony will for sure drop the price of the PS 2 to 99 bucks. another killer for the x360.

Ohhh a gigantic handheld with graphics not quite as nice as the ageing ps2,overpriced movies and terrible bug ridden ports of old games.Orrr a next gen console with graphics to die for, along with PGR3,Kameo and COD2 for just a lil more moolah this chrimbo,it's going to be a tough choice but i'll go with the 360.
Sony haven't even managed to provide enough standard psps for the outstanding preorders we have in my workplace,it's been 2 months people!!!And they're already on about releasing another bundle.
It's shocking how many people have already traded theirs in towards a 360 through sheer boredom of the handheld,it makes me giggle.
Now all we need is a ps3 launch next chrimbo with an asking price of £400,and the downfall of Sony will be complete.Bwaa hahaha.

Can't understand PSP bashers. There are plenty of good games now.
