Guitar Hero goes multiformat
Activision CEO confirms.
Activision has confirmed that it will bring hit music title Guitar Hero to multiple formats in 2007.
Speaking at Goldman Sachs Communacopia XV Conference, CEO and chairman of Activision Robert Kotick revealed the news as part of his keynote speech.
Kotick confirmed that Guitar Hero would appear "on every significant new format", while discussing intentions for yearly updates and building franchises across a number of key Activision titles.
The revelation comes in the same week that Gamestation employees were reportedly informed that the game would appear on Xbox 360 in the first part of 2007. Activision's Guitar Hero-publishing subsidiary RedOctane has declined to comment on the matter.
Guitar Hero II for the PlayStation 2 is due for release in November.

Just imagine on wii...
One players motion with the guitar are indeed read by the wii...
While player 2 uses 2 wiimotes to lay down the drumtrack...Like in the wii promo vids
All we need now is a singstar-a-like and the wii could be Band Hero!

I hear there is some other drum based game already out there, can't remember its name. I played this fantastic drum arcade game when I was in Tokyo, build using Yamaha DTXpress pads. It was bloody hard, but great fun.

1) Wireless guitar/longer cable.
2) Additional songs via Live.
3) The ability to have input into what songs get released as content (votes on the website/wotevor).
Unless anyone knows how to get a PS2 guitar into an Xbox 360... I want co-op action.

+1.
As for GH: Meh. Don't really get what the fuss is about. But then again, everybody his own taste. If you buy it for the 360, you would have to buy a new guitar (?). If I owned the original, I would buy it for the ps2.

I think ending up with music from bands the GH devs are actually in is the greater risk. Plus you know fine well that Dragonforce is never going to turn up on there. The RSI lawsuits are just too great a risk for them to take.
I agree with your point though. Majority rule is not always good or fair (or indeed very pleasant on the ears).
P.s. there is nothing wrong with Buckethead. FACT.
I think it is reasonably safe to expect that downloadable content will be explored by them on all next-gen platforms (not sure what the storage situation is on the Wii offhand though). It is the future, I've tasted it (yes, I nicked that).

Why not? The Wii detects where the controller is in 3d, and how it's being tilted, so what's the problem with rocking out to it?

Same as on the other two? Have a guitar, plug it into usb port.. simple.
Dont expect it to play any differently on any of the formats.. As all 3 new machines support usb, the guitar controller will probably be the exact same on all 3 platforms.. Which'll be great for getting a 2nd guitar - only one version will be needed which'll work on all 3.

Out of interest, how much would you be prepared to pay for each song?

Great news for Xbox 360 owners...and disapointing news to Sony.

Can't ever and won't ever happen. Sony I.P, y'see, in that they both developed and published the game themselves.

£2.50 / 3 quid represents a royal rip off of horse-armouresque proportions. 10 songs for 30 quid? Would you go out and buy GH2 if it was full price and only had 10-15 songs on it? Fat chance.
