Uwe Boll not doing Halo movie

World breathes sigh of relief.

Game and movie fans alike can breathe a sigh of relief at the news that notorious director Uwe Boll isn't helming the new Halo film after all.

Rumours of Boll's involvement began after he was billed as the Halo director on the movie's IMDB entry.

Boll was responsible for the film adaptations of Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead - and even admitted the latter was rubbish in a recent interview. He's also recently completed a big screen version of BloodRayne and is currently hard at work on the Dungeon Siege and Postal movies.

But have no fear - the IMDB entry is officially wrong. Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox have yet to even produce a shortlist of potential Halo directors, and we'd bet our special edition DVD of German Fried Movie that Boll won't be on it.

Did anyone else watch house of the dead?I remember getting so excited about the prospect of seeing the trailer for it early as it was included on hotd3 game for xbox. After watching it I thought it was literally a joke,as i'd never heard of uwe before, and I thought they were just ripping the piss out of the matrix and stuff......Turns out I was wrong.
I say Paul W Anderson up for Halo :)

    *Wishes cancer on Uwe Boll*

Fucks sake let him do it, by the law of averages he's bound to make a decent film sooner or later, and it could be this one.

On second thoughts, this is Halo we're talking about, so anybody with any sense doesn't really give a shit anyway :)

He puts lots of tits in his films at least... if he did that with Halo, it would help to counter the unbelievable campness of the Master Chief on screen.

Phew, atleast that will be one great gaming concept that the cancer of the gaming community wont infect. Although i think that anyone who will attempt to bring good games such as H2 to the silver screen will fail.

Halo has such a silly story in the first place that Bole could make a truely campy idiotic movie, as such it would be funny as hell.

IMDB is constantly wrong, mainly because much like Wikipedia its mainly filled with contributions from the public. In IMDB's case its people who work in the industry but many users still feel the need to add stuff in themselves.

Damn, what a shame... Uwe Boll is such a great director, it would've been great to see him direct a Halo movie... :-/

    Sarcasm.

He's still a better director than Kojima.

"He puts lots of tits in his films at least... if he did that with Halo, it would help to counter the unbelievable campness of the Master Chief on screen. "

Uhg. Joel Schoemaker (sp?) once said that the reason he thought "BatMan and Robin" should be camped up and lively because "Bruce Wayne is rich! He's got nothing to be sad about".

Camping up Halo = bad idea. Tits are fine, but can we just watch hardcore, and like, have a good movie?

My prediction is, the Doom movie bombs so badly that no-one will get behind Halo for another few years.

You doubt the pulling power of Mr. Dwayne Johnson, that bloke on a horse out of Lord of the Rings and a really shite trailer?
  • Dizzy #16 6 years ago

    Hehehe...

Bungie has said on their website that they are looking for a good director... Uwe Boll was never even in the running. I thought the rumor was that James Cameron was interested? Or is that old rumor?
  • PearOfAnguish #17 6 years ago

    Did anyone actually believe this?
  • kangarootoo #18 6 years ago

There is no way on earth M$ or Bungie would let Uwe get his hands on this franchise.

In other news, I'm not directing the Halo movie either (I would do a better job than Uwe AND manage to fit some tits in there somewhere).

i think bolls movies are a lot more entertaining than, say, resident evil. entertaining in a different way from what mr. boll himself probably wanted them to be, but still:)

I must admit I've not actually seen any of his films. Plus I love crap B-movie type stuff. Maybe he is my idol and I just don't know it yet.

I hoped so too, but when I finally saw House of the Dead, shit as it was, it was more annoying than actually entertaining.

    "he is however..doing the umm..farcry movie :( http://www.imdb.c om/name/nm0093051/ " - Nooooooooooooooooooooooo........

"Halo has such a silly story in the first place that Bole could make a truely campy idiotic movie, as such it would be funny as hell. " - Yes, unlike the [enteryourfpshere] story, halo is totally unoriginal and absolute crap. And the combat scenes in halo are so bad in comparison to [enteryourfpshere], that it actually doesnt deserve the title FPS. It should rather be classified as platform/puzzle game due to the absolute lack of action and story. [...]

In that case, you're better off watching gay porn.
