Prey gets online distribution

Near-instant play.

Thanks to a new deal with on-demand service Game xStream, 3D Realm's forthcoming PC shooter Prey will be available to buy online - and you won't even have to wait for it to download.

Unlike other digital download services such as Steam, Game xStream offers “dynamic streaming” - meaning you can start playing your chosen game within minutes of pressing the “Buy” button, while the full download continues in the background.

There's also an option to download the game in advance, ready for instant activation when release day rolls around.

"Together 3D Realms and Game xStream are ushering in a whole new secure delivery platform," said Game xStream's Terry Nagy.

“In ten years' time, there will be no such thing as actual shops and we'll all be eating protein pills instead of meals and living in space, probably on Mars,” no one added. But chances are.
