Oblivion PS3 content shared

360/PC owners getting it soon.

Xbox 360 and PC owners smarting at the introduction of a whole expansion's worth of content into the PlayStation 3 launch-title version of Oblivion can stop their sobbing - Bethesda's going to take care of you too.

That's because the developer aims to release the "Knights of the Nine" content introduced in the PS3 version as downloadable content for both Xbox 360 and PC on or around 21st November.

In fact, that being the case, European 360 and PC owners will get to play it before their PS3-owning friends anyway, since there aren't any PS3-owning friends to be jealous of yet.

Not only will that pack be released to buy through OblivionDownloads.com, but PC owners will be able to buy a special Knights of the Nine boxed expansion at retail, featuring all the content that makes up the downloadable version along with all previously released downloadable content - including, yes, Horse Armour.

Update: European co-publisher Ubisoft has confirmed that we'll be able to get our hands on the boxed PC version of Knights of the Nine from 23rd November. Here's a bit of officially worded info: "Knights of the Nine features an all-new faction and quests for noble characters and answers many of the questions surrounding the Ayleid ruins found throughout Oblivion. Players can join a new faction and found their own order of holy knights - leading them into battle against a sorcerer-king and his demonic minions while exploring massive dungeons and searching for legendary relics - the holy armor and weapons of the Divine Crusader."

where's the 360 boxed expansion? eh? eh?

Not that it bother's me much - when i want new content for oblivion then i get it off marketplace - but i do have friends who arn't blessed with a b/band connection and would love to see this.

again, Bethesda showed they love money more than exclusivity. And Sony didn't give them any.

Bethsada would be maaaad not to sell this content mad I tell you.
  • haowan #5 5 years ago

I bought some content for Oblivion the other day. It told me I had to start again to play it. I was annoyed.

Good move bethesda, you wouldn't want to piss off your loyal fanbase, would you? But then again, I doubt that I will get this as there are so many new games around that time.

If this generation (360, PS3, Wii) sees the end to 3rd party exclusives it will be a good thing.

As a 10-20 hour quest, this Knights of the Nine expansion sounds quite a sizable download and I wouldn't be surprised to see it going for at least 1200 points. That would a little too much in my opinion but I'd happily pay 800 for it as Oblivion is by far my favourite game. I've already spent hundreds of hours playing it and I'm nowhere near bored of it yet.

Incidentally I read months ago in 360Gamer that Bethesda have two other downloads planned, one Dragonfire or something like that and another being a Vampire lair. What happened to those?
  • haowan #10 5 years ago

Vile Lair is out. Not sure about that other one...
  • SomaticSense #11 5 years ago

Great. Telling us what we are going to get before they've even released what they already promised us (Dragonfire Castle). I appreciate the concern and all (read: money making opportunity), but how about just concentrating on finishing actual content you have already announced months ago guys? Or did you forget?

"I bought some content for Oblivion the other day. It told me I had to start again to play it. I was annoyed."

Lie. I've downloaded everything apart from the Orrery, Horse Armour and Vile Lair, and all of them work without starting the game from scratch. You just get a message saying something like "'X' is now available" whenever you load your saved game after you've downloaded it.

Ha so while PS3 owners get it with the game xbox1.5 owners will have to pay for it :)

Goes well with Microsofts strategy of selling things in bits and pieces (hd-dvd, hard drive, wifi, Microsft points etc) to disguise the costs.
  • The-Bodybuilder #13 5 years ago

I see exclusivity is still going strong.....

    >"again, Bethesda showed they love money more than exclusivity. And Sony didn't give them any."

D you love exclusivity more than money?
    Does anyone?

    I fully agree.

Where are those PS3's by the way....uhh...yeah..that's right,
all pre-sold and for those in Europe, not available until next
year which I believe to be a bit on the late side.

// Telephone Call to PS2 owning mate! //

What games are you going to play on that PS3?...
    what's that...no killer launch title?..eh...you're number 313
and the shop's only getting 12..uh...how much does it cost?...
    ..how many Blu-Ray movies?...expensive no?....you need a
1080P tv to go with that?....uhhuh....so your're going to buy
    a Wii and 360 instead.....wise choice mate!
  • Monkey_Chops #19 5 years ago

So we 360 owners get to pay for content that the PS3 crowd get for free, huh? Charming. I'm still getting it, mind.
  • Inflatable #20 5 years ago

Sucks for Xbox 360 and PC owners that they have to pay for it, but at least they can play the game already where PS3 is nowhere to be seen for many months..

    @SomaticSense:

"Lie. I've downloaded everything apart from the Orrery, Horse Armour and Vile Lair, and all of them work without starting the game from scratch. You just get a message saying something like "'X' is now available" whenever you load your saved game after you've downloaded it."

PC or 360? On the 360 when I downloaded it it said that I had to start again. This was after getting vile lair, spell tomes and one other quest I think.

p.s. "Lie" is a bit strong don't you think? Why would I lie about such a thing?

Hmm, thinking about it, maybe it just meant that I'd have to reload my game. Interesting. Thanks!
