Want Sam & Max for Wii?

Then email Nintendo -Telltale

Telltale Studios is inviting fans to write letters and emails trying to get Nintendo interested in a Sam & Max game for Wii.

"We'd love to bring Sam & Max to the Wii," Emily Morganti wrote on the developer's web-forum.

"Thing is, us thinking it's a great idea isn't enough. We need the guys at Nintendo to agree. And with a company as big as Nintendo, getting noticed by the right people can be tricky."

"If you want to keep emailing us about how great Sam & Max would be on the Wii, please do. It's great to see how many people are interested in this sort of thing (and we know that for every mail we get, there are a bunch more of you out there who didn't write)," she continued.

"But it would be even better if you'd contact Nintendo and tell them what a great idea it is. Maybe if enough fans write in, they'll take notice?"

Sam & Max Episode 1: Culture Shock is due out next month, and is the first of six planned episodes.

Nintendo wrote back to them about it, and they're now asking fans NOT to flood Nintendo with emails.
  • Fubdub #2 6 years ago

I don't want it on the Wii, adventures should be played on PC with a mouse.
  • kenty #3 6 years ago

Yep you're not quite up to date on this one eurogamer!

"News flash, Friday afternoon: They took notice! We got a phone call from Nintendo this afternoon. We'll take it from here - please don't email them anymore!"

Should be great on the Wii, surely the perfect console for point and click games?
  • Blerk #6 6 years ago

Point n' clickers can work quite happily on any console. The reason they don't happen is because they don't sell.
  • Bru-Man #7 6 years ago

Or alternatively they could pitch the idea to Nintendo themselves, like every other developer/publisher.

    Lazy gets.
  • Pirotic #8 6 years ago

It's episodic isn't it? so they are going for a downloadable content approach I guess. Nintendo could probably do with a few big titles to launch the service with so it'd be a good move*

    *except the game looks shite

Maybe people should wait and see if it's any good before they go requesting it to be spread over multiple platforms.

The videos of it that I saw had an Esape from Monkey island-esque not very funny feel to them.
  • kalel #10 6 years ago

Agreed. I'm more worried about this one than I am looking forward to it, the last couple of Monkey Islands were poor.
  • spliffhead #11 6 years ago

Escape from Monkey Island was under par but Curse of Monkey Island is arguably the best of the series.
  • Fubdub #12 6 years ago

Spliffhead, I don't think you want to start that discussion, it could make the PS3 vs Xbox360 threads look like Friends-forever declarations.

Dont quite agree with adventure games working on all consoles but not selling.

The reason they dont sell is (up until now) consoles have been shit for adventure games (moving a cursor slowly over location with joypad? Please!)

The wii controller on the other hand works almost exactly like a mouse (albeit *possibly* more intuititive as you're actually pointing at the thing you want to look at). So yes, perfect for this type of thing.

If they can gaurantee the whole of S&M series to come to the wii, i'll hold off on buying pc version.. Hmm.. HAng on, it'd be perfect for the wii download service wouldnt it? I'm soo there - hate playing games on pc!
  • Meglomaniac #14 6 years ago

The great thing about the Wii is that the cotroller can work like a mouse which make the Wii able to compete with PCs for usability in a game like this. I can t wait for a Wii

Its been a while since I've played a Point and Click adaventure game. Would like to play one again. I personally think the perfect place for these type of games are the Wii and DS. Their control schemes are better than mouse and keyboard IMO. I would try point and click games again if they came to the Wii or DS, but wouldn't waste my time installing them on my PC i'm afraid.

    Better than mouse and keyboard???

I can see why you could argue that the Wii will be as good as a mouse, but how would it be better? Also the problem with the DS is you don't have a cursor, so if your cursor is you pressing the stylus onto the screen and moving it around how do you click?

Also it's a shame that you think point and clicks on the PC are a waste of your time. The new Broken Sword is quite lovely.

you clearly don't own a DS otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question :p

It's already possible to play classic point and click adventures on DS using the stylus thanks to the DS port of SCUMM VM

    Also don't forget Another Code...

Well for an adventure, i'd say not much difference.

But for an fps (for example), you have to remember the left stick is analogue, keyboards arent. So therefore you have a mouse in one hand and an analogue stick in the other hand... Which is surely better than mouse/keyboard? (no longer need to press shift to walk/run).

For an adventure.. MIGHT be SLIGHTLY more intuitive for people who dont use mice much.. but who's that nowadays?
  • Meglomaniac #20 6 years ago

Be patient, if the big N has any clout you will see it on the Wii. At least Nintendo is acknowledging what fans are asking for, unlike certian 4-letter companies who try to build a system and tell gamers what they want
