City of Villains beta begins News

PC MMO News by Ellie Gibson

18 August, 2005

NCsoft has announced that the closed beta test is now starting for City of Villains, the eagerly-awaited standalone expansion pack for PC MMORPG City of Heroes.

"First priority into the closed beta will be offered to long-time, currently active City of Heroes subscribers as part of a program designed to reward their support," reads a post on the CoH website.

It'll take a while for the beta to get off the ground, apparently, but "Everyone who qualifies under this program will be invited into the closed beta eventually."

Those who have earned places by winning competitions or pre-ordering CoV will be invited to join at a later date.

And don't forget, there's still time (just) to enter our City of Villains competition. All you have to do is answer one simple question and you could win a no-expenses-paid trip to see the press unveiling of CoV on September 1. The closing date for the competition is August 19, so you'd best get a move on.

isn't just and expansion deaner - they are adding a load more features, its more of a sister game to CoH.

And it rocks btw ;)

It's a complete stand alone brand new game, with a brand new engine. It is not an expansion. It can link up with the CoH world too, but you can buy and play it without CoH.
