Cars X360 demo on Live

Gold users only, mind.

It's the one you've all been waiting for! Yes! THQ's Xbox 360 version of Cars is now available to demo on Xbox Live Marketplace. Phew.

450MB's worth of data awaits you, allowing you to race as Lightning McQueen through Radiator Springs or tip tractors as Mater. No, I have no idea what any of that's about, but you can explore Kristan's PS2-version review for hints.

Incidentally, this is another demo that you'll only be able to nab if you're an Xbox Live Gold member, with Silver users getting it on 23rd November.

Oh, and Major Nelson, Xbox Live's director of programming, notes that it's not available to 360 owners in Asia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway or Switzerland, however golden they might be.

I object the idea of having downloads for gold members first. (I am a gold member)

Don't waste your bandwidth, unless you are downloading it for a kid to play, it's very basic, and quite bad to boot!

wow - gold members are really getting the 'must-have' titles aren't they. Really worth paying for LIVE...

    /sarcasm off

Wow the demo is available in Europe except....

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway or Switzerland

    ...the rest of Europe.

Enough of the "gold members getting nothing worthwhile" stuff. Understand they are doing this to reduce server burden, it makes sense to give priority to the gold members as they have paid and works out for everyone as you don't wait hours for a download.

And trust me, no-one bought Gold service (Which is dirt cheap btw) just to download demos first, they did it to play games like GeOW and PGR3 etc online seamlessly!

Oh and in my GeOw there is a free XBL Gold for 48 hours thing so anyone thinking about picking it up you can try before you buy the GOld/online gears (it's good btw).

I have gold anyway but it may be of use to someone.

Seems a solid enough game, but it's barely last generation, let alone this gen. To be expected though.

LOL They're really spoiling us golders...

Having it only for gold also makes it impossible to download on a silver account located in another country.. I have 3 account, my own Dutch gold one, and 2 free silver ones, 1 for USA and 1 for Japan.. So I could download stuff not available in my country using those 2 other accounts, but now that's impossible, unless you wait a week offcourse..

I downloaded the demo, because it's free. I don't usually turn down free things. But it was horrible. I thought it might have been a but decent, seeing as it was atop the UK charts for so long. Thank god for Xbox Live Marketplace giving users the ability to avoid train wrecks.

(..)not available to 360 owners in Asia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway or Switzerland(...)

Why not? I realize this isn't such a huge title. However, if they do this with other content, I'd be worried if I was one of those 360 owners.
