360 HD-DVD just for films

MS reiterates, squashing rumours.

Several of Microsoft's blogging corps have reiterated that the company has no plans to provide games on HD-DVD, despite reports to the contrary.

"I'm seeing lots of speculation about our upcoming HD DVD Player, and whether we have plans to publish HD DVD games," wrote John Porcaro, group manager of PR and comms, most prominently. "The answer is no."

"Since announcing the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player accessory at E3 2006, we've been clear that it is designed exclusively for playing HD DVD movies. It will not play games on HD DVD," he added.

But why? Well, says Porcaro, partly it's because Microsoft simply hasn't seen anything to suggest it'll offer a better game experience.
