New Devil May Cry 4 details
From the producer himself.
Devil May Cry producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has revealed more of what we can expect from the fourth instalment in the series, currently in development for PlayStation 3.
In an interview with Famitsu Capcom, Kobayashi confirmed that the Dante on display at the Tokyo Game Show last October wasn't the finished model - you can expect to see a much more mature and sophisticated figure when the game hits the shelves.
And to make sure that you're aware you're looking at a videogame character who's all grown up, he'll sport a beard. It's not just Dante who'll be looking good, either - according to Kobayashi, the finished game will look just as flashy as the TGS demo, which was running in real time.
The bad news for rubbish gamers is that DMC4 will be just as tough to complete as its predecessor. Kobayashi said that initially he planned to lower the difficulty level, but then he realised that DMC fans would be cross, so that plan went out the window. However, DMC4 will be easier to "control" and "get into", apparently.
There's a lot more to see and do in this game than its predecessors, according to Kobayashi - you can expect more baddies, bosses, weapons and environments than there were in the first three games put together, would you believe.
Devil May Cry 4 is out in The Future.

This article is even more interesting:
"Speaking to Famitsu Capcom Vol. 2, Kobayashi bared his teeth and gnawed down on the bone of tantilisation, sharing more information on the new look Dante for the upcoming next-gen iteration of the series. As previously stated, the youthful Dante model used in the TGS demo for DMC4 wasn't indicative of the character's final look. Kobayashi reveals that, similar to Solid Snake's re-imagining in MGS4, Dante will be much older, more stylish and - get this - have a beard! Hooray for beards!
While DMC3 was renowned for its blistering difficulty level, Kobayashi also confirmed that - despite initial plans - the fourth iteration of the game won't be any easier. He explained that while he began development intending to lessen the challenge, he realised the decision would be unpopular with series fans. Instead, the development team is concentrating on making the title "easier to control" and simpler to "get into". Also on the subject of game difficulty, series director Hideaki Itsuno chimed in, ominously stating that "there is no turning back now".
If you can battle your way through DMC4's eye-watering difficulty level though, you'll apparently discover far more "game" this time around. According to Kobayashi, the next-gen follow-up will feature more enemies, bosses, weapons, locations and so on than the first three games combined. Our official response: blimey.
Finally, touching on the staggering impression the stunning TGS demo made on fans, thanks to the blinding levels of graphical pizzazz, the producer confirms that DMC4 will look at least as good as the demo, running in real-time. Although the Kobayashi was unable to give a time-frame for the game's completion, he did make assurances that when DMC4 next surfaces, it will be in fully-playable form. Yippee!

In my opinion a beard means the black hair statement is about to be realised. Dante having a white/grey beard? Hopefully it's no a mustache.

I now officially want a PS3.
But beard? Why?
Because beards are cool, duh!

Well they could not have made it worse now could they.
First one really put me off the series completely. Which was a pity I was really enjoying the game up to the point where they decided to ramp the difficulty from nice to Oh my jaysus I really don't want to play this game anymore followed by pad flying through the air.
However, from what I am reading I might just go out and see can I pick up 3 and see if that changes my mind (god knows RE4 changed my mind about that series).

Same for Jak and Daxter titles btw.
What fun is a game that doesn't challenge you?

Jak and Daxter was a doddle.

The only problem is by the time I can afford to get a PS3 into my next-gen console stable, Dante will be hitting people with his zimmer frame or using his special attack "bore people to death by talking about the demon war", and I'll be the one with the bloody grey beard

After that it work out just fine.
Dodging is easier in case you use the trickster-style - which is available right from the start.
I do have a lot of practice playing all the bigger action-adventure's. My suggestion: rent it, play it and decide. (You should wait a while, though. In case Capcom will decide to release SE over here you could pick that one. (More balanced difficulty settings and a different continue system plus boni.)
(refering to Jak 2, Jak 3 and Jak X btw.)
- yeah, a 1080p TV and a PS3, that'll take a while.
The whole Mundus-battle wasn't much of a problem for me. The phantom (2nd time) got on my nerves, though.

Were the second and third in the series shite as well???
Still, if this fourth one is harnessing the full graphical capability of the PS3 to give Dante a beard, that's all I need to hear, I'm buying the motherfucker.
