Buy a Mario Kart arcade machine News

GameCube GameBoy Advance DS Wii
News by Ellie Gibson

15 December, 2005

If you're seeking that elusive Christmas present for the Mario Kart fan who has everything, here's the answer - you can now buy your very own MK arcade machine via discountarcade.com.

Priced at $17,497 - that's just under Ģ10,000 in the old money - the machines are designed for two players and stand at 76 inches tall. All your favourite Mario Kart characters are present and correct, along with the likes of Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Blinky, since the machines were developed with the help of Namco.

There are six worlds featuring 24 circuits, plus "hilarious challenge stages" for those who do well in Grand Prix Mode. The game also has a "NamCam2" feature, which means you can put your own face in the game. And if you're feeling extra flush, why not buy two and hook them up for some four player action?

Santa better be checking that list twice, is all we can say.

If I were a billionaire, I still wouldn't buy one. But I'd hate myself for it...

I'd love to get this, but I'm still trying to save enough money to get an original Robotron for my basement...

Does anyone know what circuits are in there? Or are they all entirely new? If EG was worth it's salt surely it'd have a full review!..then offer the arcade up in a competition! P.S. I'm available for full or part time work as a marketing and progressive thinking guru :o)

Thing is, one on it's own is pointless.

You need 2 or 3 for tournaments.. :-)

LOL. Yeah, because running games at higher definition makes a HUGE difference to them - microsoft says so, so it must be true.

Hm, a Mario Kart arcade cabinet from a site with the worst spelling I've ever seen (apparently Virtua Tennis is a spots game. like... Cool Spot? or?), OR I could buy the Turok brand from Acclaim. This is actually a hard choice :p

no, I mean 1080q. It's a new Hi Def standard from Sony that no one else is good enough to use.

They have a PIU Exceed 2 machine on that site for $6000 and you make a news item about some crappy Mario Kart machine? That is depressing. :(

The only catch is you'll end up paying 4x (or more) its price in maintenance.

You'd be better off buying a standard JAMMA cabinet with a Naomi or Neo Geo arcade board with several cartridges over one of these things. (or just buy a Dreamcast)

Donīt you really need a couple to get the most out of it? At least two for four player multiplayer madness....

Can anyone spare 20k?
