No Diablo or Starcraft sequels at BlizzCon, says Blizzard rep

A WoW expansion instead?

Diablo and Starcraft fans with eyes resting on Blizzard Entertainment's inaugural BlizzCon event, taking place in California in late October, will be disappointed to learn that the "unannounced product" the developer plans to unveil is a sequel to neither.

Speaking to CNN/Money's Chris Morris, PR coordinator George Wang said that the announcement would be linked to MMORPG World of Warcraft instead - suggesting that some form of expansion pack is in the offing.

Indeed, BlizzCon - tickets for which are around $125 - seems to be quite heavily weighted toward the needs and wants of World of Warcraft fans. Said Wang to Morris, "we decided we want to get more in touch with our fans. We wanted to make it a cool, party event - not just a convention where people go and see a couple of exhibits and that sort of thing."

Those interested in attending can read more about BlizzCon online.

So they're just going to ignore two of their most popular franchises? Bizarre.
  • deaner #6 7 years ago

    Of course not!

They've been too busy spending WoW subscription dollars on fast cars and faster women to actually do any work.

God save us, not another warcraft product! Especially WoW!!! Give us SC or D3! Whats wrong with just lvl'ing with yer mates or just doing it sp? Ow wait, i forgot, you dont have to pay them shitloads of money so that they can get filthy rich. No wonder all the good staff left Blizzard and formed their own company. If EG would run a 'whos hot and whos not' item, blizzard would definitly be the not atm.

Just cos what they've announced to be working on isn't Diablo or Starcraft doesnt mean that they aren't working on them in secret.
Blizzard is one of the best developers in the world, and they don't ship out incomplete products, just look at how long they've been holding onto starcraft ghost. I wouldn't be surprised if they've been working on another diablo or starcraft for a while. They know what we want, they aren't stupid.

Could be an entirely new game, not of the online or RPG variety, could be cool. But considering they're saying the convention is weighted towards WoW it's probably just another expansion pack.

Try FATE if you want Diablo III. Should have had a spell hotkey bar instead of the one right-button slot, though.

"Blizzard is one of the best developers in the world" - Correction, Blizzard WAS one of the best developers in the world. All the good staff is now working with the game mentioned above.

Xerx3s - Your bitterly scathing anti-blizzard comments have made me cancel my WoW subscription. Thank you for educating us all about how bad they are. It's galling to think so many people fall for that "best MMORPG" nonsense...
