Blizzard talks MMO rumours

They're nonsense, basically.

Blizzard has issued an official statement dismissing rumours that MMO versions of Starcraft and Diablo are on the way.

It all started when our old friend Internet Reports got ever so excited about alleged comments from a Vivendi representative that "All Blizzard franchises will become MMOGs."

The representative was also said to have revealed that Vivendi has "a model now to develop an MMOG in three years for $50 million."

But it's all nonsense, according to Blizzard. Their statement reads: "No, that rumour is not true in regard to Blizzard. We believe that the rumour circulating about this subject is based on a misinterpretation of information provided to industry analysts.

"We do not currently have any MMO development plans beyond the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft, and furthermore, we don't have any intentions to focus on only one genre or platform with our future games."

So there you have it. To the naughty step with you, Internet Reports, and it's porridge and burnt toast for tea.
