Extended MGS4 trailer on EGTV

Indulge yourself. Kojima did.

Those of you after a look at the extended Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots trailer that Konami showed off at E3 can now find it on Eurogamer TV.

The trailer sheds a bit more light on the plot of the game, which sees is rejoin Solid Snake as he's getting on a bit, in a climate where private military companies dominate global warfare and several old friends and enemies are getting together for one last hurrah/oblivion.

Worth it for a couple of key battle sequences alone (and don't miss the one after the credits), it's worth pointing out that Hideo Kojima says it's all done in-engine on the PlayStation 3, for which it'll debut next year.

Absolutely awesome trailer of what promises to be a truly great game, yet bizarrely when I'm playing the actual games the overlong cutscenes start to annoy me!!! LOL

It certainly is, everyone on here keeps saying it's 'pre-rendered' and cannot look like that on the PS3 etc etc.... :D

EDIT: It also says 'coming 2006'. O_o

I saw a real time video of them messing with the lighting on snake using HDR and other incredible fx. It's definitely not pre-rendered.

Even Hideo Kojima is stuck in the queue. He looks bored.
  • Yazoo #8 6 years ago

The same queue that EG must have been stuck in for the last week to only just get hold of this?

Is it really so hard to believe this is real time? I mean don't get me wrong it looks great but it hardly looks too good to be true like the 2005 Motorstorm or Killzone videos.

Remember you were watching a stripped down version of it. Watching it in HD must've been incredible.

    looking forward to this film.

    Kojima doesn't do pre rendered.
Even more surprising, when asked by 1up if that trailer was representative of gameplay visuals he wasn't verry happy about it. He said that in the trailer he noticed the frame rate dip, the textures went muddy in places. He'd work on fixing that so the final game would look better.

JediMasterMalik, i just prefer gameplay trailers which Kojima doesnt really tend to do that often im afraid.

I've got no problem believing that is not pre-rendered. I remember how incredible MGS2 looked when they first showed it.

I don't understand people who ranted on about this trailer (and the extremely similar) trailer from last years E3 being prerendered...

Just by looking at it you can see it is almost identical in its feel to all the cut screens from MGS2/3 on PS2. It 'feels' exactly the same... just with improved visuals that are great, yes, but not so great as to be uncomprehendable as in-game.
I've no doubt this is the in game engine.

Raiden is the fucking don in the this trailer...

Take a wiener, give him the ninja's gear and 79% go like 'uh, now he's cool'. I'm not sure who sucks more Raiden or the 79%.
    Actually I am sure, it's the 79.
    Return Gray Fox.
