Battlefield 2 expansion out now

And priced at just £5.99.

A new expansion pack for Battlefield 2, DICE's multiplayer shooter, is now available via the EA downloader.

The much-delayed Battlefield 2: Euro Force sees you taking on the armies of the MEC and China, battling it out on three new maps: Taraba Quarry, Operation Smoke Screen and the Great Wall of China.

There are four new weapons, including the Leopard battle tank, Eurofighter Typhoon and Tiger attack chopper, and seven new weapons - such as the FAMAS and P90 rifles.

Battlefield 2: Euro Force is out now, priced £5.99, and you'll need the original game to play.

Played about with it a bit last night, and it's very good indeed, actually. Maybe not worth the 6 quid but it's definitely fun, and Operation Smoke Screen in particular is a very distinctive and memorable map.

Ooh, first. With this my journey towards the dark side has begun...

Definately worth £6 (the price of a few drinks down your local).

I think this pack adds great variety and offers excellent value for money.

while this pack does have a good map or 2 I'm only getting it to tie me over for when POE2 arrives as this mod will be better than anything that dice will come out with. Give it a look at www.pointofexistence .com

Does the expansion do anything in the way of single-player, or is the new stuff only playable online?
  • Hunam85 #5 6 years ago

Strange, cant see it on my EA Downloader...

This isnt really an expansion, and for what you get it certainly isnt value for money.

/keeps waiting for Red Orchestra while playing karkand 24/7 servers

Too bad EA wont let me buy the game online because I live in Iceland. Those cheeky bastards.

The maps are of good quality and the new weapons are nice, but still, £6? Bit steep. I remember the days when developers used to release these kind of updates for free.

Keep in mind Errol has yet to say anything bad about BF2 or its overpriced expansions.

    @ ave

£6 not value for money for 3 maps, but you paid £29.99 to play 1 map (Karkland 24/7)

    ha!

If the expansion is 'overpriced' at £6, is a pint of beer overpriced at £2.50 ?

I've already played EF for 3hrs. If you go on the rate of £1ph of enterainment, I've only got to play for a further 3hrs to get full value for money.

I think some people have just been spoiled. Expecting things for nothing.

Is the installer again assuming BF2 is installed on c:\ ?

I don't reckon EA downloader is secure for cc transations, I've kicked off a forum thread h ere

@Ram I paid £30 for a GAME, not an expansion.

As for grumbling about the money, well if you spent £1000 on a computer, why not make PC games £100, AFTER ALL YOU ALREADY SPENT MONEY ON A PC OMG FFS LOLZ11121!!!!22242

And wtf does the price of a beer have to do with it?

14 channels on TV = free
Price of food/drink/cinema = more than free
Therefore, one should only watch TV and not eat out, go for a drink, rent a movie or go to the cinemas?

    A decent car = 16k, 2671 copies of EF = 16k, BUY EF!

I'm not bloody paying £6 for what is by all accounts, worse than any one of the FREE totalbf2 mappacks(that no-one plays because DICE fucked over mods, I wonder why they did that hmm?)

Bought the add on, downloaded it

Comes up with "Catastrophic Error" when i try to install

Been playing BF2 all week, so I know its not my installation, its the dodgy upgrade

Asked for a refund, I know its only £6, but whats the betting that I have to spend half my life chasing a friggin refund.

I have to agree that with EA at the reigns now of BF, we can expect to be fleeced. Supporting mods is not in their financial interests when people will pay for shoddy half-assed content like this..
