Three new Square Enix titles

Inc. new FFXII game for DS.

Japanese magazine Shonen Jump has unveiled a trio of new Square Enix titles, including a new Final Fantasy for DS.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings appears to follow on with Vaan and Penelo from the PlayStation 2 title.

It's A Wonderful World, meanwhile, is a brand new action RPG with character design by Tetsuya Nomura for the DS.

The magazine also talked a bit about Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix on PS2.

Native Japanese speakers can find a scan of the article over on Gaming Age, and the rest of you can always gawp at the pretty pictures.

Excellent news. Slightly suprising; most people seemed to believe the next Final Fantasy game for the DS would be one of the FFXIII series of games.

Even if it turns out to be the X-2 to 12's X, it still should be fairly enjoyable, in an ever-so-slightly shallow way. Let's just hope Squenix extract the finger and actually get FFXII out on the PS2 sometime soon.

Christ on a bike, this is about as on the ball as EG have ever been with something like this - kudos. I'm waiting for the 'Nomura you lieeeeeeeeeeeeee' reactions.

Someone yesterday speculated that this was the official victory announcement for the DS in Japan; where Squenix go, Japan follows...

Surely the DS's "official victory" in Japan happened ages ago? :-)

There will be no such thing until they bring out a "real" final fantasy for anything other than a sony console.

This is great news, but brings the total number of FF titles we are looking forward to in Europe to 9 - 9!!

Oooo I can hardly wait for a follow up to a game that is still to be released over here. Hows about Square releasing FF games in Europe a wee bitty faster?

I first saw this image yesterday, I had a quick glance at the original DS game and thought "Good thing the guy that worked on OZ is getting more work, his art is awesome". Then I had a closer look and thought "Dear sweet baby Jesus Nomura I hate you".

    That is my story.
