New extreme racing game

With a heavy metal theme.

Fans of motor racing, heavy metal and games with the word EXTREME in the title could be in for a treat with the forthcoming release of Earache Extreme Metal Racing on PC, PS2 and PSP.

Apparently it was a huge hit at the fourth Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards earlier this week, where two plucky audience members got to play against the heavy metal types such as Finnish Eurovision winner Lordi.

A bloke called Jarred made it to the final to beat Darren Smith, better known as the lead singer of Viking Skull. "He was lucky! I had spent the day playing this game to make sure I was the winner, only I hit the bloody lightning zombie which blew me away," Smith commented.

Earache Extreme Metal Racing was designed by "Gothic metaller" Sky Nash when she was just 15 years old. It's being published by Metro 3D in conjunction with Earache Records and Data Design Interactive.

The game will feature "ten evil Earache racing teams" and themed tracks, plus classic Earache tunes from the likes of Napalm Death, Severe Torture and Hate Eternal. What no Steps?

The PC version is out on July 7th, with the PS2 game to follow on July 28th. The PSP version is out this winter. You can see the game in action over on EGTV.
