Two more Resi Evil films? News

PC PlayStation 2 GameCube Xbox
News by Tom Bramwell

14 June, 2005

Clearly undeterred by the fact that the last Resident Evil film was so awful that we started gnawing through our own intestines in hope of escaping - before we realised there was a green "EXIT" sign in the corner - Constantin Film AG is apparently setting about producing two more films in the series.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, film three, Resident Evil: Afterlife, is based on a script by Paul W. S. Anderson, who of course directed the first film. Milla Jovovich is expected to report back as Alice, who will be forced to kill lots of already-dead people in the Australian outback, which is posing as Southwestern America for the purposes of the shoot.

The fourth film, meanwhile, doesn't have a name yet, but will apparently take place in Tokyo, following Alice's flight from North America, and will be shot on location in Japan. There's no mention of who's writing the script, but if Capcom gives us a call we'll have a stab at it. Not the writing of it, that is; more the brutally slaughtering people involved in its design. With knives.

Unless of course the third is a return to the kind of predictable, medium-budget siege mentality that made the first fairly enjoyable. In which case when it comes to the fourth we'll... just... [it's okay. Go and have a lie down -Ed]. JUST MAKE ONE AT A TIME DAMMIT.

Well, it may just be me but i'd happily sit through two more hours of Milla Jovovich and that pouty bird who played Jill Valentine running round in tight cossies. Would certainly beat playing one of the bloody games, that's for sure.

I don't think res2 the movie was that bad. This is of course considering that its a movie based on a video game.
Maybe my expectations isn't THAT high when its based on video game because of past *experiences* with them.
Street Fighter anyone? Had to force myself to watch it actually. I remember staring at a seat next to me for a while. Went as a group so couldn't leave. :(

Both films are crap but in a good way. I own and enjoyed them both. And yes, Jill is hot.

I hate Paul W S Anderson though, he can't make decent films.

I've seen the first and not the second. But I still reckon the film should've followed the original game plot a bit more (although some bit may have been removed) i.e.

Helicopter crash
strange ravenous dogs.

let's take shelter in that ominous looking mansion.

phew, that's lucky we made it here, hold on a second while I write my life story on this typewriter, in case anything happens to me and you can somehow download all this information to a genetically identical clone that you happen to have.

right, lets split up, I hope I don't encounter any locked doors since you are the only one who can open them, even though I'm trained special forces and am not only strong enough to kick the door down, but also have access to guns/explosives. speaking of which, look at what someone carelessly left lying about next to this potted plant......

and so on.......

Surely, hollywood has deemed us worthy to bless with such awesome sequels?

Seriously though, the first film was bad, real bad.
The second? I didn't get past the church shoot out scene. I just left the cinema. AWEFUL.

And I'm not even a great fan of the games.

How the hell is it possible that this Anderson guy keep getting money to make movies. Nothing decent comes from this guy. But probably they think: we need a crap director for our crap movie.
