Hell's Highway turns to 2007 News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Tom Bramwell

14 May, 2006

It only announced it last month, but already Ubisoft's announced a delay for the next Brothers in Arms game, Hell's Highway, which is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The game, based around Operation Market Garden and making use of Unreal Engine 3 tech, had been down for release this Christmas, but now it's not, says Ubi - instead you're going to have to wait until Q1 of 2007 to get your bayonets on it.

The game, shown off to some extent at E3, puts you back in the company of old pals Matt Baker and Joe Harstock, roaming around next-gen Normandy directing your squad. Like the other games, it'll be based on real events and real characters.

I enjoythe BIA series, if they need to put it back to make it better then I'm all for the delay.

At least they're giving us plenty of notice. Why not just say Summer 2007, and if it's ready for release before then everyone will be pleased?!

Anyway, I hope Gearbox don't just make this a high-res BiA. I want to see some new ideas and gameplay which make this stand out from it's prequels.

Hey guys, I was about to buy EiB but then CoD2 came along. Now I am through CoD2, so is BiA worth it? (Note: I am a graphics whore).

Its not quite the same game. BiA is more about group strategy than CoD.

First off, you command a squad of soldiers and use some basic commands to tell them where to go and what to do. Second, it uses a cover system similar to that of Full Spectrum Warrior, so if an enemy has cover you can't really shoot them very easily but if you catch them open you will quickly take them out. It also uses a supression system (again, a bit like FSW) so that showering enemies in gun fire will stop them shooting back.

So its a lot more more about careful positioning and flanking than it is about accurate shooting. I really liked it, but its not an action shooter in the same way CoD is so try before you buy.

Sorry to nit pick, but EG's lack of actual research really gets to me sometimes... the game is set in Eindhoven, the Netherlands (Hells Highway being a road in said town) during operation Market Garden (as stated). Not Normandy, France as the first two.

Check it up!
