Twenty years after he first began dropping bombs, Hudson Soft's best-known character is to get an outing on the PSP.
Bomberman: Panic Bomber is a puzzler with a Tetris / Puyo Puyo flavour, where you link up bombs of the same colour to make them explode and disappear. Up to four players can compete at once via the PSP's wireless multiplayer function and only one UMD is required - in itself something of an achievement.
According to website FranceJeux there are three solo modes - 'COM Attack' where you race against the CPU, the straightforward 'Score Attack', and finally 'Challenge Attack', which is comprised of around 50 mini-games.
It all sounds not unlike Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber World, a 1995 SNES title which never made it out of Japan, but we'll have to wait and see.
As you may know, Hudson Soft almost came a cropper recently thanks to appalling financial results, but luckily Konami stepped in to bail them out.
Bomberman: Panic Bomber will hit Japanese stores on June 23. A US release is expected to follow later this year.
