Online co-op for Kameo

On the way very soon.

Kameo fans will soon be able to enjoy online co-op play via Xbox Live, according to a posting on the Rare website.

The letters page, Scribes, reveals that "Co-op over Live is currently in the last stages of debugging and should be available very soon."

And that's not all: "There are firm plans to release more downloadable content soon after - details of which will be made available soon."

The Scribes page also reveals that more content for Perfect Dark Zero is on the way, too: "We're making more levels for multiplayer, and we'll be doing a title update to fix some of the annoying issues players have with the game... Clan functionality was supposed to be available from the MGS side, but it didn't make it in for launch." Once again, more news is promised soon.

    Online co-op play for an action platformer? Finally something that interests me about the 360. I'd love to see this sort of thing on all the next-gen consoles. Co-operative play is great, the Timesplitters series is a great recent example.

    I really liked playing the first Kameo even if the characters seemed a rip off of various film characters.

    Should have been supported on day one. There's a big gaping hole in the menus where it was supposed to be. Although it is nice that they're still going to support it, I imagine anyone who would have been interested has already bought and finished the game by now, so I'm not sure there's a point.
  • lennon #4 6 years ago

    Ive finished it and Im still interested.
  • OllyJ #5 6 years ago

    I've done it and i'm proper interested.

    So there :p
  • BartonFink #6 6 years ago

    Yup me too.

    remember you only unlock the co-op missions by completing the solo missions.

    This should be a bit of fun though.

    so unfinished, releases become the new standard :(
    patching isn't all that good. it lowers the bar for launch, so a game can be released sooner, if anything is wrong. patches can always be applied.

    I love co-op play into teeny tiny little bits. Not played Kameo and indeed don't even own a 360, but more co-op in games is always a good thing.

    @mazzl

    Oh there is always one isn't there. Its not a patch. A patch fixes bugs. This is adding new functionality. Not functionality described on the box that later turned out to be missing, but something brand new over and above the features expected by every single person who bought it. So be happy :)

    p.s. Nothing creative is ever "finished", which I think is at the root of all of this.

    @mazzl

    As mentioned by kangarootoo this is additional functionality being added to the game for people who want to play co-op missions online.

    The very fact that a HDD is not a requirement for 360 games kinda turns your point about patching and lowering the bar for launch into a moot point.

    ok it's not a patch, beceause it's not a bug, but who knows that this function wasn't ment to be ready for launch...

    i just mean to say that this systems allows very wel for release dates to be pushed foreward, do you all think that this is a good or bad development?

    @kangarootoo Nothing creative is ever "finished", which I think is at the root of all of this -- this is so true :)

    @EGBartonFink i donno where but i read somehere that their will be a "HD-NEEDED" sticker in the future for some games. could be a rumour dough, it was sead by somebody developing a game witch was going to need a HD. that's all

    "but who knows that this function wasn't ment to be ready for launch... "

    This is true, but I like to give the benefit of the doubt and smile :)

    I heard that the HD needed sticker was going to be used very sparingly, for games such as MMOs or games that base their gameplay on editable content (that PC scalextric type "edit your own tracks" game springs to mind as an example, though I doubt it will see a console any time soon).

    I hear your concern and I'm glad you didn't take my flippant remarks to heart. The same concerns were voiced when the XB came out, but on the whole patching after release was very rare and post release updates were welcomed. I feel reasonably confident that the same will be the case here.

    Remember that most devs work damn hard to get all their planned features into the game. if they add something later that wasn't ready at release it doesn't mean thay have been slack. Without the option to add something later, it would probably just never see the light of day.

    It's - moo point. Like a cow's opinion.

    " ....and we'll be doing a title update to fix some of the annoying issues players have with the game...

    Sounds like bug fixing to me! (its PD0 not Kameo tho but still...)
  • Furbs #14 6 years ago

    Bug != things that players find annoying

    Stop trolling, its getting boring.

    I think Champ Manager is going to be one of the first games with this "HD-NEEDED" stickers.

    I dunno though I thought making the HDD optional was a silly idea i the first place. If the technology exists why not make use of it. It was used to great effect with Xbox. I really don't understand why they made it optional this time around. TBH I wouldn't mind if they made it a requirement. That would keep the flamers and trolls very happy for a while.

    Naaaah, a moo point is the sharp bit on the end of a cow's horn.

    I think there is a few games which require a hard-drive, sure I saw a list somewhere....

    Once again we see that a XBOX is not a gaming console at all, just a computer.
  • Roamer #21 6 years ago

    Ah, and one crucial question remains, of course;

    Will this be free?

    Unless it is, I find this whole thing highly suspicious - to say the least...

    "Once again we see that a XBOX is not a gaming console at all, just a computer."

    All consoles are computers. So is your mobile phone. So are the PS2 and Cube. So is a monkey with an abacus. Get over it.

    It matters not one jot to me what you want to call any of my games machines so long as they let me play games.
