EA to publish Untold Legends News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

13 December, 2006

Electronic Arts has snapped up the rights to publish Sony Online Entertainment's PlayStation 3 launch title Untold Legends in Europe.

But before some of you start gloating about how even Sony Computer Entertainment doesn't want to be involved with its own PS3 games, it's best to bear in mind that SOE titles usually are published by third parties.

Anyway, there's no word on exactly when the game will be published - obviously, since there's no word on exactly when the console will be released - but there is the promise of "expanded gameplay through the PlayStation Network".

Untold Legends, which follows on from the PlayStation Portable action-RPG titles, came out alongside the PS3 in the US where it's enjoyed a, er, "lukewarm" reception.

Hmm I am surprised EA want to be associated with this given the fact that even some of the more generous American Sites have deemed it possibly one of the worst games EVAH. But I guess they see launch title = cash.

I don't blame them last year Untold Legends for the PSP got some reward for best selling something.

Nice to know that Sony World Wide Studio's is in full flow.

Doesn't stop the game from looking like shite though.

So what exactly is the relation between Sony Online Entertainment and the rest of Sony, and in particular to the Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios led by Phil Harrison? Sometimes it seems as if SOE is completely independent of the rest of Sony. And, by the way, almost all of SOE's development is aimed at the Microsoft Windows platform...

SOE is basically a development group which are not related to SCE, they deal mainly with PC MMO's, and this craptacular series.

It's good SCEE aren't publishing this, at least they know a crap game when they se one. ;)

I probably wouldn't buy a PS3 if it werent for the fact most of my favourite games are still currently exclusive to it, ff, mgs, dmc, onimusha, star ocean.... for now at least anyway :/
