Postal 3 in development

That's a shame.

Following recent news that uniquely awful German film-maker Uwe Boll (House of the Dead, Dungeon Siege) is working on a big-screen adaptation for release in 2007, Running With Scissors has announced that Postal will also be returning to PC monitors - not to mention whatever the hell you plug Xbox 360s into when they're at home (assuming you can actually get one for your home).

Following a brief update on the film ("Uwe Boll IS still the director ... we've already taken the money"), RWS' latest newsletter announces the development of Postal 3: Catharsis for Xbox 360 and PC, and says very little else about it. "Let the questions and suggestions pour forth," it declares.

It's likely that you're already familiar with the Postal series of course - if only by reputation. RWS' top-down original was inspired by the phrase "going postal", which came about in the 80s when a US Postal Service employee got so fed up he went back to work and gunned down his colleagues, and was one of the most offensively made games ever. And not just in the "Quick, meeja-hacks - to the moralismobile!" stakes, but also in terms of how boring it was to play. The sequel, a first-person shooter, was even worse. Most people remember it because you could kill racially stereotyped shopkeepers and then piss on them.

How? Just how on earth is there to be a Postal 3?
  • Markusdragon #4 6 years ago

I know the guy who buys the one copy they sold of postal 2. Maybe I'll ask him.
  • marilena #5 6 years ago

Apparently Postal 2 sold one million copies! So there are going to be a few of them, until people get bored.

    Cool!
Maybe Jack Thompson will see this and get an Aneurysm?
or maybe, just maybe they'll write a decent engine and you won't require a bigger rig than Doom3 to get a decent framerate and maybe just maybe you won't have such ridiculously long load time so frequently.
I don't know how anyone managed to do anything offensive in the last game apart from maybe punch the dog in frustration as you trigger the loading of yet another area by walking 5 steps. :(

Now this is great news, I loved Postal 2 and its addon. If that makes some people think im weird then so be it but if its fun then its fun, the content doesnt matter.

The badmouthing of this game is probably from people who have never played it once just heard or read about what you "can" do in the game and judged by that. There are those of us who played it and enjoyed it so whats wrong with that. If you played it and didnt like it then fine but why diss people who did.

I personally find RTS games boring as hell but I dont come on forums and moan and bitch slagging people off who do enjoy them just cos theres announcement of a sequel to Age Of Empires or something. Get a life and leave people alone who enjoy what they enjoy.

I played it and can say with outmost certainty that it was shit. Nou even "shit in my opinion", simply shit. There you go, I hope you're happy now.
