Cars galore for TDU 360
Launch pack debuts, more.
Test Drive Unlimited fans can finally get their hands on the free "Launch Pack", which weighs in at 20MB and consists of two cars.
Them's be the Audi RS4 Quattro Saloon and the Nissan Skyline GTR R34, and while you will have to "buy" them in game, they won't cost you anything to download.
Atari has also launched a referral system, which could net you another couple of cars. All you have to do is dig a unique code out of the TDU packaging, get your friend to do the same and input the details.
If you're one of the first 10,000 codes, you'll receive a McLaren F1 LM and Pagani Zonda C12S Roadster. (Edit: providing you're in the US, it seems. Atari says the deal only applies over there. Tsk.)
In a related announcement, Atari also revealed that those of you who bought the game from a particular retailer in order to get the Lamborghini Gallardo will be sent the "token" to grab the car soon, as there's some final testing to do on the download.
(Edit: And Atari's been in touch about that too. Here's the official word on the situation in the UK: "All the exclusive pre-order cars are now available to download through Xbox Live Marketplace. Those of you that pre-ordered the game in the UK should receive your unique codes from the relevant retailer shortly if you haven't already done so."

I'm also very pissed at GAME & Atari for the fact that we were supposed to get the free car on launch, but now have had to wait nearly a week. By this point I could afford a f***ing gold plated F1 Mclaren and the fun of having it on day 1 has been and gone. Sort it out Atari.

I expected to have to wait at least two or three weeks before the new car packs appeared not five days; when most people won't have bought the 90 odd that are the game already. The PGR 3 ones came months after the game's release and were most welcome as most people had exhausted the game by then.

Thanks Atari you are re-affirming my choice not to buy this game on principle.

"This pack was released only days after the game went on sale which means that they were probably finished around the time the game went gold so why aren't they already in the game?"
This may not be the reason, but content on the disc will have been locked some while before the game went to gold master. Adding downloadable content afterwards will almost certainly be a much quick process.

Atari fuck us over again. So as well as announcing the game as a budget title only to then release it full price, they are resorting to outright lying as well.
What bastards.
