Westerns game tie-ins planned

Good, bad or ugly?

UK developer Bits Studios has acquired the rights to produce games based on Sergio Leone's classic Man With No Name trilogy of Westerns.

First up will be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly for PC, PS2, PSP and Xbox. Gameplay details have yet to be revealed, but Bits has confirmed that Ennio Morricone's famous musical score (do-be-do-be-doo, wa Wa waa) will feature in the game.

And according to the Hollywood Reporter, Bits CEO Foo Katan is looking at the possibility of getting cast members from the original 1966 movie to lend their voices and likenesses to the game's characters.

Katan has not ruled out working with Clint Eastwood, who took the lead role in all three films. Eastwood recently sold his face and voice to The Collective for use in their Dirty Harry game, due out next year on next-gen consoles.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly will be released in 2006, joining an ever-lengthening list of classic movie tie-ins that includes the likes of Scarface, Taxi Driver, The Godfather and Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach. All right, maybe not the last one.
