Mass Effect video on Live

Developer walkthrough.

Those of you keeping an eye on Bioware's latest, Xbox 360 exclusive RPG Mass Effect, can now watch a demo walkthrough video.

It's available for free over Xbox Live Marketplace in 480p and 720p resolutions, and sees the devs walking you through what's going on.

It's also available in most regions - although if you're in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan or Mexico you're out of luck. What's with all the non-Mexico content, eh? What did they do?

Mass Effect is due out either this year or next, and sees players form bands of intergalactic adventurers, charting planets and roaming the galaxy in search of, well, additional hitpoints presumably.

Battles will be real time, with even more detailed animation than Jade Empire, according to the developers. For more on what's going into it, check out the video.

    Bring. To. PC.

I know it took em ages to get Jade Empire to PC but BioWare do port to PC alot. Hopefully this trend won't stop.

    >"Don't call me a tight arse. "

So you're saying you've got a loose arse? Wow.

Self shadowing never looked so bad!
  • Walshicus #8 6 years ago

The self-shadowing did look a tad rough, but this game does have quite a few months to go before release... Looking at what they've been able to do with their "emotion engine" already, I'm bloody impressed. I can imagine this being one of the greatest TRUE RPGs released.

@ TheBodyBuilder - That's just wrong. You know what I meant.
  • Dark_Stranger #11 6 years ago

I feel sorry for the Mexico, big round hats, very fast mice & now no Mass Effect. What have they done to deserve that.
  • Zero Beat #12 6 years ago

Actually I tell a lie, Tomb Raider Legend's might have been worse.
  • Vin #13 6 years ago

Good LORD, this looks fucking brilliant.

This is simply one of the best looking next-gen titles of any platform, although we've only had a glimpse(like with most other titles in development, so fair's-fair!) , I'm interested in seeing more of this. A rival to GOW and pretty much any other game you can mention right now? granted they're both being made using the UE3 but of the other games, besides Epic's being made on it so far, it seems bioware's is the most unique(looks amazing on some aspects of the visuals, its deservedly getting alot of attention through it recently). As for the gameplay? well most people know what Bioware are capable of and they have some big plans for this game, so its deffinatley one to watch.

    God this looks good. :(

I wonder how they will do the planet thing. I mean; they claim "Explore planets" but it will most likely come down to a very small area per planet.

Not that I will care, Bioware = instant win. \0/ It's also good to hear that they will expand the game trilogy by adding planets along the way.

When was this out again? xmas? I'm gonna be so broke this xmas. :(

BTW JMM, would you buy it if it was exclusive to the ps3?

I don't care whether it's exclusive or not. If I bought a 360 I'd buy it for that but I haven't yet. Still it'll probably (evetually) come to PC so still no reason to get it now. ;)

We'll see. To answer your question though, if it came to PS3, yes I would buy it, exclusive or not.

Zero Beat, don't be such a tool. It's a very dynamic lighting technique which draws attention to itself, but the added visual depth makes games look better. It's a great looking game (as is Tomb Raider for the most part, bar the slowdown at 720p).

Saw a trailer for this the other day. Looking a bit rough so far.

"Battles will be real time, with even more detailed animation than Jade Empire, according to the developers."

No mention on battles actually not being as shit as they were in Jade Empire yet I see. Here's hoping they nail the battle system this time. The one they had in KotOR worked fine.
