No plans for Lunar DS in Europe

Not currently, says Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has no plans to release Lunar: Dragon Song for Nintendo DS in Europe, the publisher told us this week.

The disappointing news comes about a week after the company's US arm unveiled the game, which is being developed by Japan Art Media in conjunction with GameArts, and revealed that it would be a DS exclusive.

The game's set 1,000 years before Lunar: Silver Star, which appeared around a decade ago, and immediately piqued the interest of longstanding fans of the series.

Fortunately, the Nintendo DS isn't bound by any regional compatibility issues, so those same enthusiasts should be able to buy the game from importers - assuming Sony, Nintendo et al haven't rounded them all up and burnt them at the stake by then - shortly after its September release.

We'll bring you more in a couple of cycles.

I use tronixweb.com already got meteos from there and the awesome Kirby canvas which is even more fun than God of war.
They use fedex which costs $13.95 aroun £8.00 but on the positive side they use a great tracking system. And the delivery takes only 2-4 days (brilliant if you are wondering) It also only stores American games though. Which is okay as the Japanese games have no English text

    *learns Japanese for video games

another website is importmadness.co.uk but I havent ever used it so I can't tell you much if you are considering importing games from there

You see - it's bad news, but I'm not frothing at the mouth because there's no region locking issue. You just shrug your shoulders and say "oh well, I'll just import it from the US". See, home console producers? There's a very simple way to stop people like me flooding your mailboxes with complaints every other day.

This is a strange move for UBI, who had taken a nice stance of brining japanese games over here (harvest moon/star ocean) i hope they sort this out, or they wont get the big hug i really wanted to give them last year for being so good

well, after the review, I guess I'll import it :).

The chances are Ubi will publish it over here anyway, just a hunch.

"The chances are Ubi will publish it over here anyway, just a hunch."

What are the factors that help them decide to launch in a certain region. Or do they just see the figures of their past games. Just maybe the interest in these kind of games just isnt big enough.
In Japan people love these games, but here people just want graphics, guns and cars.

Eternal Blue is one of my favourite games, but I keep forgetting that it is. Which makes about as much sense as poo-flavoured ice-cream.

It's shame to hear this. Bad Ubisoft. But on the other side it doesn't really matter to me. I have planned to import this one already, because waiting till the game finally arrives to Czech Republic could last for the rest of my life. Now it's only matter of import from USA/CA instead of UK… same as with all previous Lunar titles. Oh yeah it’s time to find new home. Czech Rep. is definitely not gamer friendly :)

Well, the hunch is based on the fact that just because it's not annouced here yet doesn't mean it's not happening. Maybe they're waiting to see what the demand is like in the States first.

bit of a strange decision as it would cost very little to release it in the UK and the success of Golden Sun shows what being the first proper RPG on a system does for sales...

Same here, Ubisoft have had a long tradition of bringing over some fairly 'under-the-radar' RPG's to Europe, which I've been very greatful for.

Still, I guess Lunar on the GBA was never published over here, so this is no huge supprise.
As long as Ubisoft dont suddenly decide to have a crackdown on importes, I'll be happy enough and just get it from the states.

The only thing that makes me get a console is a good traditional RPG (that or free games - xbox/ DC (although I got the DC originally for sonic and shenmue and no I didnt like Grandia 2 or Skies Of Arcadia).

Anyways yes... import me do if I can be bothered.

This is the game going by the name of 'lunar genesis', which has been up for preorder on play.com for months, right?
If they have no plans to release it, how did Play get enough info on it to list it?

well think i may import it. who's a well trusted site to import from?
