UK X360 trio at launch?

Gotham 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark.

Microsoft's Peter Moore has indicated in one of a number of promotional Xbox 360 videos doing the rounds that all three of the company's key UK first party titles, which he identifies as Project Gotham Racing 3 from Bizarre Creations and Kameo: Elements of Power and Perfect Dark Zero from Rare, will be part of the console's "launch portfolio".

That's not a cast-iron guarantee that they will launch alongside the console this "Holiday season" - mostly likely November/early December, even for Europe - but it's the clearest indication yet that all three are being positioned as key components of the Xbox 360 launch offering.

Project Gotham Racing 3 has yet to be officially unveiled by Microsoft - perhaps in an effort to avoid spoiling the European launch of Forza Motorsport on Xbox 1 today - but is almost certain to feature on Monday at the company's pre-E3 press conference.

Perfect Dark Zero has been unveiled in the US print press, with some disappointing screenshots popping up overnight that have rankled fans, but Microsoft UK today claimed it had "released no shots" of the game, implying that the real juice is still yet to be served. (Guh, juice.) Word that the game crawls along at 20 frames per second in its current iteration haven't helped improve the tone of the gossip online.

Kameo, meanwhile, has been demonstrated, but opinion is less polarised. The adventure game, originally bound for GameCube and then Xbox 1 after Microsoft bought out Rare, mixes puzzling and adventure with real-time battles and creature transformation.

Look into the eyes, not around the eyes, look into the eyes...

PD0 will be the best game you've ever played and you'll tell all your friends that too..

  • Gl3n #4 7 years ago

I certainly hope that those PD0 shots are false. The graphics look ancient. Also, 1up have taken the shots down from their site.
  • effinwooly #5 7 years ago

Quake 4, which is also a launch title, looks amazing ! check out gamespot to see the IN GAME graphics !

Llamasoft's Vizualizer Neon is also a XBOX 360 launch title :D

Microsoft have learned a big lesson here... you can have as many titles as you like at launch, but if you've got bugger all for the next 6 months you look rubbish. I'd put money on there being a LOT of momentum to follow up the launch, and I'd imagine they're slotting in key titles monthly.

Once upon a time, Nintendo did this very well.

PD0 didn't look much cop from the brief glimpses you see of it in the MTV special, it looks like it needs a hell of a lot of work.

If you watch the MTV show (which I advise against) look at how Joanna runs down the stairs...
  • Yaz #9 7 years ago

^^^ Well obviously there's work to be done, it's not even running on final hardware, but looks very promising just the same. :)
  • PhatCat #10 7 years ago

It all very well MS saying that no PD shots have been released, but we saw it with our own eyes on MTV, and it looked a bit, err, shit.

Sod that, when are we getting Elder Scrolls IV:oblivion?
  • Pirotic #12 7 years ago

It's Mario sunshine ("OMG IS IT USING N64 TEXTURES!?!?!";) all over again. Both the PDZero and DoA4 footage shown is over a year old and was used at a developer meeting celebrate the 'xenon' dev kits getting sent out. wait for E3 to see the real deal :)
  • Ranger101 #13 7 years ago

That's a good point Nige - if MS release their key titles in stuttered drips, rather then all at once, it will prolong consumer interest, and continually attract new consumers to the product.
Nintendo have managed to fuck this up with the DS. All I have is Polarium on mine, and aiming to get SM64 soon, though admitidlley I did buy it as a replacement GBA, for my crappy original Purple one. (The SP flew right over me).

PDO looked fine when it was on MTV. Frame rate wasn't 20fps lol and the desert town setting was fairly well done. In places though, it's pretty damn patchy...and I'm not too keen on that mocap.

Anyway, it's still in alpha so we can wait.

Still looking forward to seeing PD0 proper. 1up's preview sounded interesting, and i flat out refuse to believe rare (probably been developing on the x360 tech the longest) would produce such pants graphics seen in those screens, especially with their reputation. I mean they'd be too crusty for xbox 1 let alone the x360, right?

    Lord, i hope i'm right

  • The-Bodybuilder #17 7 years ago

Okay, could someone explain to me all these game footage they saw on mtv? When I watched that aweful show (about half and hour ago) all I saw were manic depressed rockers molesting thier guitars.
  • Pirotic #18 7 years ago

they took all the xbox stuff out of the european version of the show. the US had a visit to rare, game footage, people deathmatching in PDzero and more j-allard acting like you're dad trying to be cool.

i added his gamertag to my friends list mind you, if he's ever on splinter-cell i'll hit him so hard his connection will drop :D

    Well that explains it.

  • Tiiti #20 7 years ago

The Xbox footage was after the actual show. It started about 10mins after it
  • The-Bodybuilder #21 7 years ago

You sure? Cuz I didn't change the channel for a while (too busy typing up my anger on the net) and they started showing a new typical mtv show. nothing about the x360.

Damn you, Glen, I was gonna claim more credit.

Well, at least I got name-checked for a minor detail of the controllers. Good times.

"A Dreamcast upgrade, a Gamecube game and an N64 port. Is this the future of gaming?"

And a new Mario, yet another Zelda and a load of other games most people will be ambivalent to equates to some kinda REVOLUTION.

    Bravo, chuck.
  • Tyronne #26 7 years ago

All well and good but has anything been said about what kinda price these launch titles will have ?
  • Sid-Nice #27 7 years ago

And how Microsoft would love to have those characters. :)

  • Yossarian #29 7 years ago

Just read at 1up that there were, as of April, 140 Xbox 360 projects underway, with 40 or so of those scheduled for release within the first six months of release, and 10 or so of those within the first few weeks.
  • skybluesam86 #30 7 years ago

Oh wouldn't that be truly joyous....*rolls eyes*

Yet another bland, dull, uninspired, boring, etc Halo game. I've never once been entertained by either Halo game.

Why do Microsoft cling to it as if it's some masterpiece of gaming?
  • Gl3n #31 7 years ago

Proper Perfect Dark zero screens. Lookin' good.
