Tecmo announces Xbox version of Project Zero 2

Crimson Butterfly comes to the Xbox, complete with new game modes, costumes, locations and terrifying noises in 5.1 surround.

Japanese developer Tecmo - the chaps responsible for the rather excellent Ninja Gaiden, which all you Xbox owners will undoubtedly be picking up on its European release tomorrow - has revealed that an Xbox version of its survival horror title Project Zero 2: Crimson Butterfly is in the works.

Called Fatal Frame 2 in the United States, Project Zero 2 is the follow up to the critically acclaimed horror title Project Zero, and it casts you in the role of a young girl called Mio Amakura who becomes trapped, along with her slightly psycho twin sister, in an abandoned Japanese village.

The whole game draws a lot of inspiration from traditional Japanese horror stories and more recent movie chilllers such as the Ring series and Ju-On: The Grudge. Frankly, it's bloody scary, as the (sadly small) number of PS2 owners who have picked up the game already will know.

Xbox types can look forward to new unlockable costumes, new locations in the village, improved graphics and 5.1 surround sound in their version of the game, which will be out in the USA in October - no word on a European date yet.

The Xbox version will also have some new gameplay modes, including an action-focused survival mode where you battle legions of ghosts with the unique camera combat system, and a first person game mode which wasn't present in the PS2 version.
