Ghost downloads in Tekken PSP

But no online head to head.

Namco's PSP version of Tekken, Dark Resurrection, will allow you to download ghosts of the best players in the world so you can actually see just how rubbish you are by comparison.

Tekken DR, which is due out in September, is known to include ad hoc (i.e. PSP to PSP) multiplayer, but it doesn't have any direct online fighting (or "infrastructure modes" as Sony likes to call them).

So the news that you'll be able to download ghost recordings is something. According to Famitsu, who announced the info, you'll be able to haul them straight onto your Memory Stick via the game, or download them on the PC and then transfer them across using a USB cable.

For more on Tekken DR including who's in it and what sort of game modes are on offer, check out last month's news on the subject.

What? Will you be able to fight these ghosts or is it just a movie of someone else fighting?

I hope the ghosts are some kind of recorded AI patterns at least.

Fighting a ghost? Can you actually hit them then or do you need some sort of backpack and ray gun?

Either that or a really small lady with tennisballs.

If memory serves the ghosts in the arcade version of DR were AI skinned with a person's customisations and with a tendency to use your combos, characteristics and attack/defend in the same ratios.

's how it seemed to me then anyway :)

    frod - "Tekken sucks."

in your opinion, maybe, but i am actually looking forward to this and i am sure i will enjoy it, just as i have enjoyed all previous entries in the series.

Skipping the PS2 in favour of the Dreamcast and Xbox, I havent been able to play a Tekken since T3 (which, i have heard, isnt such a big loss) so im really looking forward to this.

If they manage to nail the load times so matches flow seamlessly, I think this could be one of this years great PSP titles. Especially since tekken doesnt require any dragon punches, so the d-pad will presumably not be much of an issue.

As far as the ghosts go, presumably, they will be for time attacks and survival. At the very least they will come in handy for training. The nippon kings of the iron fist are stupidly good, so a few pointers wouldnt go amiss....(although I am (hopefully) still awesome at tekken).

That's basically what ghosts are; arcade cabinets create ghosts of the best players to use the machine. They were actually already implemented in Tekken 5's arcade mode, only the option to download them is new.

Tekken doens't have Dragon Punches, it does have Electric Wind Godfists though. But I digress...

frod: I actually agree with you but you'll probably find people on here appreciate your comments more if you back them up in some way - you're not really contributing anything useful at the moment.

Try saying what you prefer, how it could be better, what's wrong with it exactly...

Well nick, you were right. This is definitely going to go among the greatest PSP titles for this year. I've played the Japanese version for a few days now and it's absolute bliss!
