Bruckheimer still fancies PoP News

PC PlayStation 2 GameCube Xbox GameBoy Advance PSP DS
News by Tom Bramwell

Jerry Bruckheimer's still interested in doing a film based on Prince of Persia, according to ComingSoon.net.

"In February, we start a picture called 'Déjà Vu', ... Then we have a thing called 'Prince of Persia,' which is a big video game that we're considering doing," he said.

It's not the first time producer Bruckheimer's been linked with PoP. Shortly after Sands of Time came out (good taste, Brucky. Can we call you Brucky?), Hollywood mag Variety reckoned he was eyeing it as a future Walt Disney Pictures prospect.

According to PoP creator Jordan Mechner, speaking in March 2004, "we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story - much as Pirates did with the theme park ride".

Whether that's still the case remains to be seen, obviously, but there's been no mention of everybody's-favourite Uwe Boll, so presumably people will store their cynicism up until after the film's done for once. If indeed it happens. He did say "considering" after all.

This line is great isn't it? Sounds like he doesn't even know what it is he might be making.

edit: According to IMDB Deja Vu is the story of "an FBI agent [who] travels back in time to save a woman from being murdered, falling in love with her during the process". ZOMG! Quality cinema!

Yeah, but if the male and female leads dont fall in love, everyone assumes they are gay.

Ooh, this has certainly got my vote. One of my favourite producers coupled with one of my favourite video games? Here's hoping!

I used to think Bruckheimer only wanted to create popcorn flicks but then I saw... err actually... but err is that a bad thing?

Later I realized it was just the movies that Michael Bay directed that I thought was so bad. Bruckheimer can do good stuff.

Yeah, Sorry, it's most probably Bruckheimer + Micheal Bay = Uwe Boll with unlimited budget. Vomits.
