Battle for Middle-Earth II on 360

First Rings game for Live, too.

Electronic Arts is planning to bring The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-Earth II (what a time to discover the comma) to Xbox 360 this summer.

The real-time strategy game, based on the PC version due out March 3rd, will be the first Rings game to work on Xbox Live too.

In development at EA Los Angeles, it promises "new and intuitive console-specific control scheme" suitable for novices and experts alike. A PROMISE IS A PROMISE, EA. REMEMBER THAT.

Shouting aside, it's also worth mentioning that it looks quite nice, as you can see if you check out the two screenshots EA pumped into our inbox just now.

We'll have more on both versions of the game in the run up to their respective releases.

as opposed to all those other games that arent trying to make money?

Command & conquer and Warcraft were released for the PS and Saturn, probably not very successfully because no similar games were released for PS2 or XBOX. So now there trying again, it will be interesting to see how they do it, but don't count on pleasing the experts.

I have Red Alert for the PSX, works great, it's how I learned to play the game. Totaly smoked my friends a couple weeks later at a LAN party on the PC version.

I'd have no problem with making them non-functionable in online FPS games! :)

Ok, so it's on live. Like every other single 360 game HAS to be live?

i.e. live aware or are they actually going to push the boat out and have some gameplay in there too?

And are these games actually any good? Like C&C good back in the day?

Yes, and c&c on the n64. And Starcraft i believe. Ow, and that tbs game about hem yakees on the xbx a while back aswell.

Still, the xbx doesnt need a mouse and keyboard (although i have nothing against it), but some sort of wireless precision instrument would be nice. Could be a trackerball or a mouse of some sort. Or a joypad with a trackerball.
