Virtual Console UK dates

Castlevania, Gunstar, more.

Nintendo's official UK magazine has revealed that Gunstar Heroes, Super Contra, Super Castlevania IV and the TurboGrafx-16 version of R-Type will be among this month's Virtual Console releases for this territory's Nintendo Wii Shop.

The first batch will be going live this Friday, 15th December, with Gunstar Heroes the main attraction (those of you with US consoles can download the Megadrive title right now), followed by the likes of Donkey Kong Jr. (NES) and Toe Jam & Early (Megadrive) next Friday, 22nd December.

But, hang on until the 29th and you'll have a much broader range to choose from, with Super Nintendo titles SimCity, Super Probotector (Contra) and Super Castlevania IV making an appearance, along with R-Type.

Virtual Console currently hosts the likes of Super Mario Bros. (NES), Donkey Kong Country (SNES) and Super Mario 64 (N64). Prices vary, but Nintendo titles go for 500 (NES), 800 (SNES) or 1000 (N64) Wii points, which are sold in various increments either in shops or through the Wii's online store.
