Transformers: X360 in disguise?

Apparently one's in the film.

Obviously we're all a bit terrified about Michael Bay's new Transformers film, but if our old friend Internet Reports is to be believed then we will at least get to vomit as well as cry our eyes out when the film's released on July 4th 2007.

That's because The Movie Reporter, apparently in possession of one of the latest script revisions, states, "For reasons that I won't get into, we see an iPod, Xbox 360, and plasma screens sprout legs and transform just a bit."

That's a real shame. Then again, it could well be bollocks, or edited out - with the film not due out until next summer, and teasers only just going live, there's no guarantee that's what we'll actually see.

One thing we will definitely see though is Activision making games based on it - the publisher having picked up the rights and set to work on a game to be released alongside the film, platforms TBC.

For more on the film script (with intense spoilers, obviously), you can continue reading about it on The Movie Reporter and LatinoReview.com too.

ZOMG they are changing Soundwave into an iPod!
  • PearOfAnguish #2 6 years ago

Hopefully it'll transform into something with decent games. A SNES, maybe, or perhaps an Amiga.

... umm, why? I remember Transformers being about big huge robotic things that changed into trucks and stuff...

Why would an iPod be a Transformer? It'd be TINY! I mean, how is something that size supposed to save the bloody world?

    product placement sucks
  • Darkedge #7 6 years ago

Michael Bay had loads of product placement in The Island so it's not a surprise at all.
He'll need more if it ends up about as good as the island :/
  • Azazel #8 6 years ago

Please, please, please God don't let them make it suck...

    And no Bumblebee.

Maybe the XBox360 robot could be called 'Meltdown'? Or 'Powerbrick'? Or... or... no, I'm out.
  • Redeye #14 6 years ago

I call BS for many reasons, not least of which is the fact that all this 'info' is coming from a leaked script that's five months old, which apparently has undergone many, many changes since.

And the site countdown is for the upcoming teaser trailer, due on July 4.

I wouldn't put it past Michael Bay,I mean remember the comically awful product placement of the xbox logo in The Island?Y'know the flick that was set in 2027,yet is using a logo that is already out of date in 2006.Terrible.
Then again this story is probably a piss take anyway.

"So, is this 360 version comming with an external PU? ;) "

    lol

"Cmon Xboxbot! We gotta get outta here before Lexuscon and Zanussicon return!"

"I cant go any further Panasonicbot. My PSU is wrapped around some fantastically well designed Ikea furniture. You'll have to transform in your DVD-S52 model with HDMI outputs (now available in stores) to somehow free me!"

"Its lucky that you can withstand such a beating due to your superior build quality, XBoxbot!"
  • Jontacular #18 6 years ago

Hehe, I always remember Spitting Image doing something about Brokenbyboxingdayatron :-)
  • jiveguy #19 6 years ago

Product placement? In Transformers? Surely not!

  • thelastslice #20 6 years ago

Ok, this can go one of two ways...

    1) They wind-up completely ruining the entire movie with this crap...

    2) If you remember the origin of the Tranformers coming to Earth, the Autobots and Decepticons computers scanned the Earth and believed the machines of this planet were the dominant speciies. Given that, there could be all sorts of things like the XBoxes and iPod Transformers. Given that- and these scene are nothing more than little two second snippets, this won't ruin the movie.

    THE UGLY TRUTH!!

This is just a diversion tactic to keep us from talking about the fact that ACTIVISION in making the movie game... man, that is going to suck!
  • Freek #21 6 years ago

Autobots, transform and roll*Oh crap he's crashed again.
Reboot him, no, uhm okay, try that cache clear thingy, oh right new drivers, okay where do we get those??
There's no internet on Cybertron. Geuse we'll go to Earth then.
  • jlaakso #22 6 years ago

I'm pretty certain that the director doesn't decide on product placement.
Also, loosen up folks. It's a Transformers movie, you can't take that very seriously.

The teaser site is cool, though. At least with the music on.

    How about 'Breezeblock'?

"Obviously we're all a bit terrified about Michael Bay's new Transformers film(...)"

Can't understand this sentence...can anyone explain it to me?
  • Ihya #26 6 years ago

There are going to be a load of die hard 25-35 year old males who watch this as they grew up with the toys. This is a target rich demographic for your fucking ipods, 360's and big screen plasmas. We know Bay whores his films out like in 'The Island' where the clones in the pseudo prison who cannot buy anything have Xbox logos advertised in that virtual arena, which was sadly out of date, sadly out of place, and sadly making no sense at all.

The likelyhood is indeed high for Bay to shoehorn this shit in.

That was the most jarring product placement I've seen to date in a film. Good job the film was so terrible or I'd be upset.

Reading between the lines, I think they mean Bay will take a much cherished franchise, deeply embedded in the childhood memories of a generation, whose memories of Prime, Megatron are deeply revered, and for him to skull fuck it repeatedly until it's dropped ever dollar from its twitching corpse.

"skull fuck it repeatedly until it's dropped ever dollar from its twitching corpse"

pfft. I don't see how that's a change for the franchise. but no, I don't expect people to actually know anything about transformers.
  • Ak1ra #29 6 years ago

Yeah, they should have booked Ang Lee or Steven Spielberg....It's an action movie with cars, the only name that pops in my mind is michael bay, and yeah, if the movies gets too expensive, put a bit of advertising in it, we see it on the street, it's natural that we see it in movies, when a character is walking down a street...
