MotorStorm, Lair, HS in 2007 News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

11 November, 2006

A pamphlet included in the US retail PlayStation 3 hardware bundle has shed some light on the release dates for a few of the next-gen system's upcoming exclusives.

According to IGN, the pamphlet reveals that despite MotorStorm enjoying a December release in Japan, where the PS3 goes on sale today, it won't be released in the US until February.

Meanwhile, Factor 5's dragon-'em-up Lair (which smacks a bit of Dynasty Warriors in our early build) is down as March, along with Heavenly Sword from UK-based Ninja Theory.

The good news, we suppose, being that those games could all wind up as European launch titles - if they stick to the proposed dates. Ha.

Well you can't have a console AND games can you. Asking a bit too much.

Looking a good euro line up for launch though.

yes, lets hope it launches in march...

or the us launch is so brill, that they can't build enough of them to meet demand, and the euro launch is bumped until september because the US is their most important market...

Factor 5's dragon-'em-up Lair (which smacks a bit of Dynasty Warriors in our early build)

So that means that when you review it, you're going to give it a 5, heh? You must be the only people in the world who made this silly comparison.

So if IGN gave it a 9... hmm... that's an 8 from EG? Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Is that sarcasm? I don't think I've read a single preview of Lair that doesn't mention DW.

See Sony this is how you stop people from importing your console, not by suing Hong Kong based companies.

Just delay your games for the European launch, everyone... Well us Europeans will be a bit less angry.

The Lair developers themselves has made it out to be this in the air and on foot army combat game.

What's the point of that?

IF I were to be a dragon. I would never land.

Oh and that other flying game, Warhawk. It also has on foot action.

Why?

I want to be flying constantly and preferrably fighting against bigger and more complex boss fying super-hangars and flying islands. Anything. Just as long as it is in the air and I have that freedom and the scale.

It wont have online gameplay in Japan?

That's awful on so many levels. They could have a Mario Kart on their hands but release it earlier just to get it out for launch? Nuts.

Oh and.

The intro for Motorstorm is excellent. Extremely pretentious :)

In fact I'd take this trailer as an example of why the Gears of War trailer had an awful soundtrack.

Disc:

Warhawk looks one of the most interesting games on the PS3, to me. Both it and Lair look like GTA-in-a-war to me (to a certain extent), Lair a having fantasy flavour and Warhawk a sci-fi flavour. GTA without being able to get out of the car...that would be crap. I don't know about Lair but Warhawk allows you to drive tanks and jeeps and stuff as well as simply travelling on foot; why limit your immense-scale fights to aerial only?
