Dig Dug on Live Arcade

Call a spade a spade.

It's a little known fact that I would like to retire and play Super Nintendo RPGs all day. I have no time for you and your "modern games", and last night I had a dream where I kept a big folder of all your misdeeds. This morning I am going to make that folder a reality, and in the meantime I'm going to set off a download of Dig Dug on Xbox Live Arcade, because that looks old and we've got to stick together.

Dig Dug's only little, at 11.57MB, costs 400 Microsoft points and, like Namco Bandai's other Xbox Live Arcade offerings, has whopping great borders down the side to remind you that you're going back in time via a Crayola factory - with 12 achievements, online leaderboards and those ever-popular "enhanced graphics" available to those who I despise. You can of course download a trial version, too.

And you can do all of that now. And-and I suspect one of us will stick a spade in the underground puzzling hero sometime later in the week, whereupon we'll probably increase our Google rank for the phrase "pumping 10ps", which - thanks is no small part to our efforts - is on an even Internet keel with" Trouble with your penis?"

Get an achievements folder while you're at it Tom, I'll help you make it.

    He can borrow mine.

Enough is enough. I've bought too many of these throwbacks and played them for 5 minutes. Oh hang on, my 360 is constantly freezing and has to go back to be repaired. So I can't download it anyway:(

    Cheers Tom.

You make it all sound so tempting...But I think I'll hold off for the 21st century thrill of Lumines Live (next week hopefully !)

Stick that in your folder !!!

    :)

I played Dig Dug a bit ago in an emulator after owning a copy on the Atari 2600. It was OK for a few mins, but it is shored up by novelty value and won't get you that many minutes of play IMO.

These games are all too old for me. I'll pay for late 80's arcade conversions but these just don't hold my attention for long enough to be worth buying.

Are you lying about the enhanced graphics? Because I can't see any, and Namco don't usually bother their arses.

I am sooo fed up of Live Arcade Wednesday resulting in nothing more than yet another shitty retro release... for fuck's sake can't we have something decent to spend our points on, like Lumines?

" Oh hang on, my 360 is constantly freezing and has to go back to be repaired. So I can't download it anyway:( "

I know what you mean.I've had twelve 360's overheat, giving me
ring of death, ringing ears and a sore ring.
One scalded my cat to death whilst playing Oblivion cuz I was
playing it too long and didn't notice it was lieing on top of it.
One literally exploded while I changed the batteries in the control
and the other I had to have exorcised as it was flying around the
room but that could of been the fans at the back.

Dig Dug...I will miss you but I will have to get a PS3 now
after I pimp my mother out on London's streets!

    Only...waiting......for....Defender......

(but the demo of this will tide me over for 7.82 minutes.)

Dig Dug is ok but Dig Dug 2 is superb!

I have it on a PSP collection - including DigDug II, and quite a few other gems - plus reimplemented/"enhanced" versions of a few titles including Dig Dug (it adds nicer graphics and some bosses you usually defeat by dropping rocks on their heads enough times). Come on, Microsoft, give me a good reason to get your console!

optimusprym8: stop fucking whining about fucking Lumines. It'll be along to microtransaction you to death in due course. Sick of hearing about it.

Dig Dug. Classic game - 400 points = cheap. Do I have any complaints? Yes - it's a shame they hadn't picked Mr Do! instead - similar but better. I've no idea who owns the licenses to that now, Universal have been dead a LONG time.

Hey one of my all time favorites at the arcades. Excellent.
