New cars for Test Drive News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

11 September, 2006

With Test Drive Unlimited now available in the US and Europe, Atari has released a pair of new cars to celebrate - but you can't download them over here yet.

The new cars are the Audi RS4 Quattro and Nissan Skyline GT-R34 and should be available for nowt, but they're not yet appearing on the UK's Xbox Live Marketplace. If you've spotted them in your country's version, why not let us know on the comment thread?

We'll have a look again later to see if they've appeared. Atari UK didn't return our requests for clarification this lunchtime.

Still, it'd take a Herculean effort to have unlocked all the other cars available in TDU by default, so you're probably all right for a little while. If you haven't already, check out our review to see what we made of it.

It's only fair that the US got them free first, what with the higher price they paid for the game eh? ;-)

How do you create yourself an US Gamertag ? Just cheating on your country of origin ?

@frogger
just go through the option of creating a new gamer tag. you need a new email passport account and zip code etc, but I don't think they're checked - but just in case use something like pookmail.com and 90210 for a zip.

did it last week to get the battlestar videos and viva pinata episodes

You'd think MS would get suspicious of the number of Gamertags for people from Beverly Hills :-)

Oh Lord there is a whole racket going on here. What are you guys, crooks?

/psst- I created a US Passport account to get that 2GB storage in Hotmail which everyone else is giving away for free. Interested? Thought so!

I remember "borrowing" a zip code so that I could take part in the free trial of Majestic in 2001. It was a brilliant game, just a shame that the World Trade Centre attack caused them to close the game down.
It's probably the only game that has been cancelled because of Al-Qaeda.

They're not going to release them until we've all forgotten they promised them to us for free. (What do you think: 200 MS points per car? :))

Personally I have more than enough cars to be going on with. I'd rather they released a patch that meant you could actually use the multiplayer portion of the game: i.e. the main 80% of it...

If you pre-ordered from play.com you got a special code which unlocked these.

Aye, the Skyline and Lamorghini Gallardo Coupe are aces, but the Audi RS4, though nice to drive, is a bit meh looking...

I signed into my US profile last night and didn't see these free car downloads at all, just the same demo and two trailers that we have...

Free? Wasn't one of the excuses for us having to pay more for the game based on the fact that we get the DL content free and the US have to pay for it??

Utter bollocks.

They've just appeared (11pm, 12/09), 20MB download, RS4 and Skyline, free of charge. This is on a UK gamertag.
